Happy talk like a pirate day everyone. In honor of the day, I'm putting up this thread for all to share their builds and discuss uses for the swashbuckler and its fellow sea-fairing classes, prestigious or otherwise. Whats fun, whats optimized, and what is down right silly.

Feel free to post like a pirate as well.

A player in the game I am currently running is using a variation of:

The Dead Levels ability for Swashbucklers (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20070227x) is one of the most unexpectedly-awesome things to come out of WotC.

At 4th level, a swashbuckler has a lascivious way of acquiring knowledge through less than diplomatic channels. A swashbuckler gains an additional use of the Bluff skill called seduce to learn secret. The swashbuckler can use charm, flirtation, or seduction to learn a coveted secret that is known by a nonplayer character. In order for this iteration of the Bluff skill to work, the nonplayer character must find the swashbuckler physically attractive and be in a position to actually know the secret in question.

After posting this thread, I subsequently threw open some books and threw together a feat. I've got it over under home-brew as well but here it is.

DARING STALKER
You combine two disciplines frequently held to be at odds with one another to great effect.
Prerequisites: Grace +1, ki power
Benefits: Your ninja and swashbuckler levels stack for the purpose of determining the size of your ki pool. For example, a 7th-level ninja/4th-level swashbuckler with this feat could use her ki powers a number of times per day equal to 5 (half the sum of her monk and ninja levels) + her Wisdom bonus (if any).
Your ninja and swashbuckler levels also stack for the purpose of determining your competence bonus on Reflex saves from the grace class feature and the swashbuckler's dodge bonus to AC. For example, a 7th-level ninja/4th-level swashbuckler has grace +2 and a +2 dodge bonus to AC, as if she were an 11th-level swashbuckler.

If anyone has any pirate/ninja builds, I'm certain this could fit in quite nicely. Anyways. I hope this thread doesn't just get lost at sea today.

Heres my creation after making a brd/swb/wrchtr...

Daring Performer
Prerequisite: Grace +1, Inspire Competence
Benefit: Your bard and swashbuckler levels stack for the purposes of determining your competence bonus on Reflex saves from the grace class feature and the swashbuckler's dodge bonus to AC.
Your bard and swashbuckler levels also stack for the purposes of determining your morale bonus when using the inspire courage class feature.

I personally like Fighter 5 / Half-Orc Paragon (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/racialParagonClasses.htm#halfOrcParagon) 1 / Fighter +4 / Scarlet Corsair (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20050805b) 10.

Be a desert half-orc (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/environmentalRacialVariants.htm#desertHalfOrcs) and use the following fighter variants: Dead Levels (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20061013a), Skilled City-Dweller (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a), Sneak Attack Fighter (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#fighter), Zhentarim Substitution levels (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060327a) and either Thug (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#fighterVariantThug) or Hit-and-Run Fighter (Drow of the Underdark).

Basically it's a build that's good at intimidation, feints and sneak attacks. For feats you can either go with damage (Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse, Craven) or with optimizing intimidation (see here (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=oaoqfrm0217dsoelte509ukgb4&topic=8759)) or a bit of both.
