View Full Version : [PF] Draconic orc sorcs get more dakka?

So...I was just reading through the sorcerer bloodlines and looking at the Cross-Blooded archetype. Normally the archetype sucks because as a sorcerer you *really* don't want less spells known. However, the Orc bloodline says that whenever you cast a damaging spell, gain +1 damage PER DICE of damage on that spell. And the Draconic bloodline says whenever you cast a spell with an energy descriptor that matches your draconic bloodline's energy type, that spell deals +1 point of damage per die rolled. But wait, there's more! Half-orc favored class bonus says +1/2 to fire spell damage.

So let's see if I get this right. Assume a 8th half-orc cross-blooded sorcerer with the Magical Lineage trait (Fireball). The sorcerer casts an Empowered Fireball (as a 4th level spell), and deals (8d6+16+4)*1.5 = 12d6+30 damage?

I mean, normally cross-blooded sucks, but I think there's potential in this. Anyone else have anything to add to this potential damage?

Intesified spell? 5 extra die for a +1 spell level (use neytang spell hunter or something to off set the cost)

Intensified won't help until past CL 10, but the half-orc would probably pick that up at some point yes.

Uh... Havoc of the Society trait so your damage spells do an additional 1 force damage? Then basically no one will fully resist your damage spells, making Dazing Spell even more generally useful...

Once you hit CL 11, Scorching Ray would be pretty good on a solo target lacking fire resistance.

Does it only work on Sorcerer spells?
Because I could see this being pretty awesome on Magus builds...

It doesn't say sorcerer only spells, so if you're willing to make a 1-level dip into Sorcerer...

It does work with a Magus, and is a common dip nowadays.
Hell, there are even those that advise blasters to go Wizard, for the admixture school power, and take a dip in Sorcerer (the reason it is this way, and not a Wizard dip, is because the Admixture school power is based off off int, and the feat Greater Spell Specialization (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/greater-spell-specialization)).

Fireball can be a rather effective little control spell.
Like using fireballs together with Toppling Spell (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/toppling-spell-metamagic) (which requires Havoc of the Society to work).
Or Dazing Spell (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/dazing-spell-metamagic).
And with Spell Perfection (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/spell-perfection), Magical Lineage, Havoc of the Society, Greater Spell Specialization, Dazing Spell and either Toppling Spell or Intensified Spell, you can cast some nasty damage/control spells, at spell level 3 (or both Toppling Spell and Intensified Spell for a level 4 spell). And you do it spontaneously.

"General rule: If a class ability modifies your spellcasting, it applies to your spells from all classes, not just spells from the class that grants the ability. (The exception is if the class ability specifically says it only applies to spells from that class.)"
