Wizardy 6 and 7

I just picked the Wizardry 6/7 bundle up from good old games. I am curious as to what peoples favorite characters to have are. Also are there any good/necessary mods to play them at this point?

I might try streaming a play through of them.

For me, the secret in 6 was intelligent multiclassing. Create a character who COULD be a lord, but start them as a fighter for a while to build up fighting skills. Switching classes would let you later speed through levelling in your chosen class. IIRC, a faerie could pretty easily switch between thief, bard, and mage, with Bard being an excellent start (for some of their powerful abilities). Build a good party that's a mix of characters, races, and genders. Don't kill more rubber plants than you have to.
