Im joining a game lv 4-6, with a party consisting of a illusionist, sorcerer, fighter, griffon, rogue, and cleric. Any Ideas on what to add to the party? Right now Im thinking a Crusader. Im not looking for overopimized, im purposefully going S&B. If I play Crusader Im going to be a Warforged with admantium body and Improved Fort.

Griffon? :smallconfused:

Care to explain more about what roles in your party are filled?

It SEEMS like you got pretty much everything covered. Two trick based characters, Rogue and Illusionist. Two combat caster types: Sorcerer and Cleric. Two Beatsticks, Griffon and Fighter.

So it's not like there's an obvious gap to fill. The easy answer would be to play what you would want to play. Maybe go with a non-combat role like a Bard? Not a bad idea. But there's nothing you're really going to take that is gonna hurt he party for lacking a role.

The griffon was an odd request by a new player, so the dm allowed it. The fighter is your basic THW power attacker, the sorc is a Utility, the Cleric is a buffer/undead specialist, the rogue is a rogue, and the illusionist is a gnome wizard.

Im purposefully nerfing myself as a crusader by going S&B and burning a feat for EWP Bastardsword.

Crusader sounds like a good choice, considering you have a fair amount of melee attackers. Any kind of support-type would be alright.

I think that the best choice would be a commander-support type. You have three (or four, depending on the cleric's build) characters that would greatly benefit from Dragonfire Inspiration - you SHOULD optimize, but focus on enhancing your teammate's abilities instead of going for solo domination.

How about a bard/crusader focused on White Raven and Devoted Spirit?

EDIT:
Okay. This may seem cheesy, but in fact is rather... Balanced towards the party optimization, I guess.

Go, go...

Human
Divine Bard4/Crusader1/Prestige Paladin1/Ruby Knight Vindicator4/Prestige Paladin+2

Feats:
Human: Mounted Combat
1st:Dragontouched (Pyroclastic Dragon)
3rd: Dragonfire Inspiration
6th: Song of the Heart
9th: Devoted Performer
Rest is free.

If you can convince your DM to houserule the wording of Song of The White Raven to instead of "crusader or warblade levels" say "initiator class levels", pick the feat rather than the Devoted Performer and go RKV 10, only dipping one level in Prestige Paladin.

There you go, instead of a +x to hit and damage you give your whole team a +xd6 fire or SONIC damage per hit.
Also, White Raven goodness, your team will love you if you play it smart.

They will shine, but you will be the one that allows them to. You won't overshadow any of them. Go Longsword&Board, Fullplate.
Be the Commander type or something similar. :smallwink:

EDIT EDIT:

Now that I think about it, you can also go:

Human Bard6/Crusader14
with Dragontouched, Dragonfire Inspiration, Song of the White Raven and Song of the Heart...

And call it a day.

With a griffin in the party, go something fairly off the wall but that buffs the party.

Start out with a tall fellow halfling. Toss on 1/2 Fey. Take 2 levels in Bard or Marshall to begin with. You will want to go 1-2 levels in a couple other classes, plus get a little rogue in (mostly to back up your existing rogue, never bad to have more searchers).

As the others have posted, your goal is not to be better than any other in their role. It is to support them. Plus, since your party does seem a little silly this may work better from an RP perspective.
