I've just played a Soulborn as a DM, and... it's terrible. So I decided to try and fit in a Soulborn into the Tome of Battle, blending the two, while also possibly including some of the Tome of Magic stuff; Binding, Chakra's, Soulbinding, and Truespeak all sort of fit well with the idea of the born into the soul character, so I'll try and incorporate a bit of all of that into it.

GAME RULE INFORMATION
Soulborns's have the following game statistics.
Abilities: A soulborn is capable of doing anything they set their mind to, but a strong martial bent means that they are more than capable
Alignment: Soulborns are polarized in their alignments, hewing to strong convictions of morality and ethics. As such, they can only be Lawful Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Evil, or Chaotic Evil.
Hit Die: d12
Starting Age: As Paladin.
Starting Gold: 6d4x10 (150gp)

Class Skills
The Soulborn's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are...

Iaijutsu Focus (Cha), Lucid Dreaming (Wis), Spellcraft (Int), Truespeak (Int), Use Magic Device (Cha)

Skill Points at First Level: (4 + Int modifier) x 4
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 4 + Int modifier

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the CLASS NAME.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: You are proficient with all simple and all martial weapons, light, medium, and heavy armour, and all shields. In addition, if you have a deity, you gain proficiency in its sacred weapon, regardless of whether it is an exotic weapon or not.

Aura (Ex): A Soulborn gains the ability to generate an aura, which increases in power as you increase in level, but is also dependent on what alignment you are. This functions as if they were a cleric with a deity of their own alignment (see Detect Evil for details).

Heart and Soul: Whenever a Soulborn sets their mind to the task, they really put everything they have into it. Whenever a Soulborn chooses to take 20 on a task, they may add 1/2 their Soulborn class level to the dice result, rounding down as an untyped bonus. At 5th level, you may begin to invest essentia into Heart and Soul as if it were a soulmeld. Each point of essentia invested within adds to your class level by 1 (after halving), and every 5th level thereafter (10th, 15th, 20th etc) adds a further +1 for each essentia invested. For example, a 15th level Soulborn invests 3 essentia into Heart and Soul. 15/2 = 7.5, rounded down to 7, + (3*3) = 9. 7+9 = +16 to any time they take 20. At 20th level, if 5 or more essentia are invested into Heart and Soul, you may apply it to any task they may take 10 on.

Awakening; [b]If you are a Good Soulborn, you may select any Exalted Feat as a Bonus Feat. If you are an Evil Soulborn, you may select any Vile Feat as a Bonus Feat. You do not need to meet the prerequisites for these feats. However some specify that you must follow a particular Vow, such as that of Poverty (mentioned in the "Special" section of such feats). To maintain the benefit of the Bonus Feat, you must still maintain that Vow. Alternatively, you may reawaken something hidden deep within yourself; instead of gaining either an Exalted or Vile feat as a bonus feat, you may choose to gain a Regional Feat. However, you must meet the Prequisites for such a feat.

[b]Utter Dedication; A Soulborn may choose a number of cross-class skills that it has at least 1 rank in to add to its class list permanently equal to its Wisdom modifier+1. You get additional ranks for free in those skills as if they have always been class skills for you.

Open Soul Chakra (Ex): You may now bind Soulmelds to your Soul Chakra.

Soul Apotheosis (Ex): Depending on your alignment, you gain a number of templates. You type changes to become an Outsider. In addition, whenever you successfully make a spellcraft check to identify a spell, you may choose whether to be counted as your original type before Soul Apotheosis, or what it currently is, whichever is the most beneficial to you. You must still be targeted or included within the area of effect however, as per normal. For example, a Human Soulborn may be identify Enlarge Person and Hold Person being cast; they may choose to let themselves be targeted by Enlarge Person, but not Hold Person.

You are considered a Native Outsider when on your home plane, or whenever you are on the home plane of the templates you gain via Soul Apotheosis.

Lawful Good Soulborns gain the Half-Celestial and Axiomatic Templates.
Chaotic Good Soulborns gain the Half-Celestial and Anarchic Templates.
Lawful Evil Soulborns gain the Half-Fiendish and Axiomatic Templates.
Chaotic Evil Soulborns gain the Half-Fiendish and Anarchic Templates.

You do not gain any level adjustment for these templates. They are "free".

Ex-Soulborns; Soulborns who are no longer of the alignment they started with lose all the benefits of the Aura and Soul Apotheosis abilities, as well as losing the ability to shape and bind soulmelds with a descriptor that matched their previous alignment, neither may they progress any farther in levels as a Soulborn. Soulborns which change to another alignment that is eligible to be a Soulborn (Lawful Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Evil or Chaotic Evil), or return to their original alignment may atone (as per the spell atonement), allowing them to once more to progress as a Soulborn. Their Aura and Soul Apotheosis abilities change to match that of their new alignment.

Alternate Class Features

Psionic Soulborns
REQUIREMENTS; To take a Psionic Soulborn substitution level, a character must be Lawful Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Evil, or Chaotic Evil, have the [Psionic] subtype, and be about to take their Xth, Xth or 20th level of Soulborn.

CLASS SKILLS; Psionic Soulborns remove Spellcraft and Use Magic Device from their set of class skills, and add Psicraft and Use Psionic Device in its place. Unlike normal substitution levels, these apply to all subsequently gained Soulborn class levels.

Psionic Apotheosis (Ex): This works exactly as per the Soulborn's Soul Apotheosis ability, but you may choose to swap one of the templates gained for the Phrenic Template instead. In addition, whenever you successfully make a psicraft check to identify a power, you may choose whether to be counted as your original type before Soul Apotheosis, or what it currently is, whichever is the most beneficial to you. You must still be targeted or included within the area of effect however, as per normal.

Elan Soulborn
3rd; Reawakening; loses access to Exalted/Vile, but may take a Regional feat without meeting prerequisites.

Hellbred Soulborn
3rd; Realisation; can choose Exalted/Vile regardless of alignment.

________

Maneuvres/Stances etc

General idea's;

May choose Divine Spirit, Iron Heart, Diamond Mind, White Raven or a new one; Azure Horizon (swap Diamond Mind?)

1st
- Smite opposition
-
-
- X, Stance; while in Stance, take a Swift action to count each receptacle as having +1 more than it actually does until the start of your turn.
2nd
-
-
-
- X, Stance; burn unallocated essentia as an immediate action to ready maneuvres (requires 2 Maneuvres)
3rd
-
-
-
- Autodetect opposition, 30ft+ Invested Incarnum
4th
- X Strike, Create Walls of Incarnum as per spell
-
-
- X, Stance, invest Incarnum in the stance, Power Attack multiplier.
5th
- Drain Essentia; deal Wis damage, gain Essentia equal to damage+drained essentia for use in the following turn.
-
-
- X, Stance, reallocate essentia as an Immediate action or Free Action.
6
- Bind a Vestige as an immediate, recieve benefit for IL/rounds, subject to its sign for IL/hours.
-
-
-
7
- Spirit Binding; Lucid Dreaming/Truespeak check, and cast Greater Spirit Binding from Complete Arcane. Using it again causes any currently bound creature to break free.
-
-
- X, Stance, counts as a Magic Circle against Opposition with a Calling Diagram centred on self with a Dimensional Anchor effect on all within.
8
- Inception; Dominate Monster hit, no save. May attempt to beat control by beating Truespeak+Lucid Dreaming check.
-
-
-
9
- Unmaking; Truespeak check+Invested Incarnum and unmake target.
- Waking Dream; Make a Truespeak or Lucid Dreaming check. If Truespeak, gain Wish, if Lucid Dreaming, gain Truespeak.
-
- X -Stance; Every Critical Hit you confirm increases all of your Incarnum capacity by +1 and gives each Incarnum receptacle +1 essentia. Works similar to Blood in the Water.

Any other ideas, I'm welcome to. Cheers!
