I wanna start a game as a DM and my story is heavily influenced by Diablo I&II.

The rest of my people even though some of them may have played diablo as kids
1) do not know diablo story (since when the game was released they didn't know english to understand the quests
2) do not even remember diablo

In case someone start to remember etc I'm ready to alter the story and names.

So, I've searched in local bookstores and I've found "to hell and back" but didn't purchase it since I wasn't sure it was necessary.

Is it a good supplementary? Are the classes there balanced/easy to follow, or should I switch to typical dread necro/ druid/ fighter/barbarian/ mage/ rogue-assasin/ etc.

Possible alignments will be neutral/good and starting level 5.
The party will be 3-4 players and I intend to keep the original story going for 20-30 sessions.

To Hell and Back is entirely about the monsters, adventures, etc in the game. It saves a lot of work at least, having it.

Fo characters (and magic items) Diablerie is the book you need- but it's not very balanced- and using the nearest existing approximations in standard D&D (or using homebrew) is probably better in some cases.

There's a few homebrew D2 classes on this forum.

Actually, Legend (www.ruleofcool.com), which is a d20 based game, would be a FAR better system to use to do Diablo2. They even have the three skill trees set up with seven tiers of abilities (okay, so D2 only had six tiers of abilities, but you can always throw in an extra tier somewhere or another) and have it pretty much analogous.

perfect!

Should I let a dread necro instead of a cleric?

Is Diablerie a good source? Should I buy it?

I like it, for the magic item tables at least- and the classes are interesting- though save DCs and the like sometimes follow a very odd progression.

If you can get it at what you think is a reasonable price, you may possibly feel the same way about the items- and modify the classes as you choose.

Ok, so I've found Diablerie in a local store.

Any opinions about Diablo 3 classes?

I have not played Diablo 3, just some walkthroughs etc on utube.
How can Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter and Monk be introduced in a d&d game?
I can see a shaman with plenty of necromantic spells, a rogue and a monk but, if there are any other ideas I'd like to hear them.
