View Full Version : Making a Sci Fi Airsoft Larp

Well this whole crazy idea started when me and a buddy were talking at work and just thought it would be awesome to have an Airsoft LARP. We have the very basic rules set down, but there is a lot of fine tuning that needs to happen, so i figured i would come to GitP for assistance. The LARP is primarily sci fi.

The basic combat system.
Ok our combat system is pretty simple, all guns do 1 damage, one handed primitive melee weapons do 1 damage, one handed modern melee and two handed primitive do 2, and two handed modern melee do 3, and bows do 2.

*the above damages are per hit, or per BB that hits you in the case of guns.

Weapon categories.
Weapons are split into the following categories:

Pistols
Submachine guns (broken into two categories, SubMachine Gun, and Machine Pistol)
Shotguns
Rifles
Heavy Weapons
One handed Blunt
One Handed Edged
Two Handed Blunt
Two Handed Edged
Polearms
Small weapons
Archery

(those of you familiar with NERO LARP will recognize a few categories here, the are the same as they are in NERO)
Now you will probably notice that there is no "primitive" or "modern" melee categories, the only difference in that is what you are actually wielding.

Primitive weapons are any normal melee weapons, swords, axes, clubs etc.
Modern weapons are weapons like, chainswords, power swords, really any weapon that looks futuristic. (steampunk melee weapons qualify)
(all Firearms, except for Pistols and Machine Pistols, must be wielded in two hands)
Skills
This is by no means an extensive list of skill its just what we have now.

Weapon Proficiencies:
Pistols
Submachine guns
Shotguns
Rifles
Heavy Weapons
One handed Blunt
One Handed Edged
Two Handed Blunt
Two Handed Edged
Polearms
Small weapons
Archery

First aid-Allows you to stabilize a dying character
Medic-Allows you to bring a dying character back to 1 HP
Doctor-You heal an extra point when using a Med Pack and can bring dying characters back to 2 HP

Hacking-Allows you to open electronic locks and hack computer systems
Lockpicking-Self explanatory

Craft (Ammo,Firearms,Melee Weapons, Armor, Medical, Chemicals)- Works just like DnD

Two Weapon Ranged- You can wield two one handed firearms simultaneously
Two weapon Melee- You can wield two one handed melee weapons simultaneously
Terminator- You may wield a sawn-off shotgun one handed
Akimbo- You may wield a SMG one handed

Armor Monger (Light, Medium, Heavy)- Increase the armor value of one armor type by one
Wear Extra Armor- You may wear 5 more points of armor*
Toughness- You have one more HP*

*may be taken multiple times, the effects stack

Characters
All characters start with 5 HP and the ability to wear 10 points of armor.

Death and dying
When a character drops to 0 hp the are unconscious, and start counting to 60, if they reach 60 without treatment they are then dying. When they become dying they start counting for 3 minutes, if they are not revived before the time expires they are dead.

Thats what we have so far, we are trying to figure out a good XP system and we have agreed that it will be a level-less system, so kinda like WoD. Also we havent exactly worked out what happens after your dead, we will probably have some sort of respawn mechanic. Any help the playground can offer will be helpful. Thanks in advance.
