Yo People of the Playground.

I'm working on my campain setting, which involves a very high level of magic.
For this, I've made 4 base classes to represent Destruction, Renewal, Chaos and Order respectively: Goaler of Frostflame (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246724), Spellguide (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250627), Delerionist (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265575) and Disciple of Anima (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=15510910#post15510910). I'm intenting to give them all an artifact for martial initiators and casters alike, so I hope you like the read. Cheerio all.

Artifacts of the Grand Cross of Four.

New Rules:

ELA: Effective Level Adjustment
To better evaluate the power of an artifact, I thought of using LA to determine the increase in power a character would get when wielding an artifact of great power. This works about the same as a template, except that artifacts are generally meant for higher level play and as such, the LA might not be entirely correct. I would like you guys opinions on this matter. An artifact with an ELA of +8 should be as powerful as a LA +8 race when comparing a lvl 1 member of that race with a level 1 human for example.

Catalyst Weapons

Ar’dalh, Catalyst of Chaos

History: To be Written

Personality: Ar’dalh has 2 personalities, one for its scythe form and one for its dual scimitar form. In its scythe form, it acts rather depressed and detests its job, although it will use its powers at the wielders command without any hesitation. In its dual scimitar form, its acts hyperactive, urging the wielder to keep cutting and moving and doing stuff, acting cheerfully when there is not any combat to be had, cracking jokes all the time and chattering about random stuff. This is why most people prefer the dual scimitar form, except when total concentration is needed. Its main objectives are the removal of tyrants and good kings alike, roaming around while not answering to anyone, keeping to its own devices and keeping its own view on things.

Crunch:

ELA: +8

You automatically gain proficiency with this weapon if it chooses you as its wielder. Also, if it is stolen by someone it has not chosen, it will teleport back to its owner if it is taken further than 200 feet from its chosen wielder. This can even happen across planes. For purposes of antimagic and dead magic fields this is considered an Ex ability.

Chaotic form:

The weapon itself has 2 forms: a scythe form and a dual scimitar form. Each form used the same Ego score and is considered 1 entity no matter in which form it resides.

Scythe form: +6 Vorpal, Greater Dispelling scythe 2d10, 16-20/*6, deals 3 Con damage on hit.

Dual scimitar form: 2 +3 speed, keen scimitars 1d10, 14-20/*2, you gain the Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Greater Two Weapon Fighting and Perfect Two Weapon Fighting feats when the artifact is in this form. For each 2 feats you already possess of the ones the weapon grants you, the critical multiplier of the weapon is increased by 1 (Maximum *4).

You can switch weapon forms as a swift action.

Martial Clarity: Every turn, you automatically regain 1 martial manoeuvre that you know. If you expended more manoeuvres the last turn, you regain the first one that you expended.

Touch of Anarchy: Each manoeuvre you initiate from the Flowers of Chaos (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266649) discipline that hits a target while you are wielding this weapon bestows 1 negative level upon that target. These negative levels last 30 minutes. They can stack up to 3 times on any given target. You gain 20 temporary hitpoints for every negative level you bestow in this way (Maximum 60 temporary hitpoints).

Martial Catalyst: The initiator level of the wielder is increased by 4. The wielder also can choose 2 manoeuvres from the Flowers of Chaos (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266649)discipline using your new initiator level. You still have to meet all prerequisites for these manoeuvres.

Weapon Mental Stats: Int 20 Wis 10 Cha 26.

Senses: See within 100 ft., Communicates telepathically within 100 ft., darkvision and read magic.

You instantly lose all benefits this artifact grants when it is no longer in your possession (decided to switch owner due to Ego struggle or you’re dead).

Ego Score: 45

Fate Slasher, Catalyst of Destruction

ELA: +7

History: To be Written

Personality: Fate Slasher has a personality that fits its scholarly background. Due to it being attuned to Chain magic, it has a keen mind and a real thirst for knowledge. But that is only the surface of its real personality. It thirst for destruction of all things it deems necessary to be destroyed. But it does not destroy without reason. It values balance and cycles, just as its Renewal counterpart, Soothbringer. It continues cycles by destroying things and people it deems to be around too long, things that are not willing to make place for newcomers, bringing new diversity to the world. As such, its personality is calculating, advising its wielding what to destroy and talking with its wielder about the state of the world and what the best course of action is

Twin Kusarigama:

This artifact resembles 2 small scythes connected by a chain, each wielded in 1 hand. This weapon counts as a double weapon and both sides share the same enchantment bonuses, enchants and artifact powers.

Twin Kusarigama: +6 Bane, Sundering, Shattermantle Twin Kusarigama 2d8/2d8, 18-20/*3.

Creation Bane: The Bane on this weapon only activates when hitting an enemy. The first attack made against that enemy turns it into the appropriate Bane for that enemy type. This is not controllable by the wielder. The Bane deactivates when the wielder has not attacked an enemy for 1 minute.

Greater Shattermantle: The Shattermantle ability on this weapon lasts for 2 rounds instead of 1, the maximum spell resistance reduction this weapon can inflict is -20 SR (Shattermantle is an enchant that reduces enemy spellresistance by 2 for each time hit, this lasts for 1 turn normally).

Chained Impact: Each time you hit an opponent with one side of this artifact, the base damage of this weapon increases by 1d8. The first strike deals 2d8, the second 3d8 and the third 4d8. The fourth attack deals 1.5 times damage, with the rest of the attacks that turn dealing damage at a normal *1 modifier, but still with the 4d8 base damage. When you manage to critically strike on the *1.5 damage attack, that critical hit deals *4 damage rather than *3.5. The turn after the 1.5 times attack, the damage is reset to 2d8 and the cycle begins anew. The weapon also resets when not having attacked an enemy for 3 rounds, in the case of making 1 attack per round for example.

Martial Clarity: Every turn, you automatically regain 1 martial manoeuvre that you know. If you expended more manoeuvres the last turn, you regain the first one that you expended.

Martial Catalyst: The initiator level of the wielder is increased by 4. The wielder also can choose 2 manoeuvres from the Escalating Chain (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251678) discipline using your new initiator level. You still have to meet all prerequisites for these manoeuvres.

Weapon Mental Stats: Int 26 Wis 20 Cha 10.

Senses: See within 100 ft., Communicates telepathically within 100 ft., darkvision and read magic.

You instantly lose all benefits this artifact grants when it is no longer in your possession (decided to switch owner due to Ego struggle or you’re dead).
