Creating a Lesser Deity

Alignment: Any

Portfolio: A lesser deity has at least limited knowledge and control over some aspect of existence, giving it a number of special abilities. A lesser deity can perform any 5 actions as free actions in a round with respect to its portfolio.

Domains: A lesser deity may grant spells and domain powers related to its portfolio to its worshipers. A lesser deity typically possesses 4 domains.

Type: The creature's type changes to outsider (augmented).

Senses: A lesser deity's senses are incredibly acute and extend out to a radius of one mile per rank. Lesser deities take a -1 penalty on Perception skill checks per 100 ft./rank of distance to the target.

Portfolio Sense (Sa): A lesser deity automatically senses any event involving their portfolio and affecting five hundred or more people. The lesser deity receives no sensory information about the event, merely knowing the event is occurring and where it is. Once the lesser deity notices an event, it can use its remote sensing ability to perceive the event.

Remote Sensing (Sa): As a standard action, a lesser deity can perceive everything within a radius of one mile per rank around its worshipers, sacred sites and objects, any location where someone has spoken its name or title within the last hour, or any location when a portfolio-related event occurs.
This remote sensing ability can cross planes and penetrate barriers and is not fooled by misdirection or nondetection or similar spells. A lesser deity can extend its senses to 5 remote locations at once and still sense what is going on nearby. A lesser deity can breach the block sensing ability of other deities by making a successful rank check, a successful breach does not create a magical sensor that the other deity can detect.

Block Sensing (Sa): As a standard action, a lesser deity can block the sensing ability of other deities by making a successful rank check. This power extends for a radius of one mile per rank of the deity, and can be centred on the deity, on a sacred locale, or portfolio-related event. A lesser deity can block 2 remote locations at once, and blockage extends up to 1 hour per rank.

Supernal Rank: A lesser deity gains a supernal rank equal to its rank, further representing its puissance. A lesser deity gains a number of supernal abilities equal to its supernal rank. A lesser deity may choose to sacrifice two supernal abilities for one salient divine ability. Lesser deities are countered as unique entities for purposes of antimagic field, dispel magic and gate.

Armour Class: A lesser deity gains a natural armour bonus and divine bonus to its AC equal to its rank, as well as a deflection bonus equal to its Charisma bonus.

Hit Dice: Change all of the creature's Hit Dice to d20s. A lesser deity has maximum points per Hit Die and gains +rank hit points per supernal rank.

Inherent Class Levels: A lesser deity gains all class features of all its inherent class levels. A lesser deity typically has 25-35 HD.

Defensive Abilities: A lesser deity gains DR 30/epic and (material or alignment), resistance to two energy types 30, and spell resistance equal to its challenge rating + 12. A lesser deity also gains regeneration 20. Typically the only way a lesser deity can die is through special circumstances, usually through being slain in combat with another deity. Permanent destruction is only risked if the lesser deity is slain in its divine realm and fails against a rank check, or through the deprivation of worshipers.

Divine Immunities: Lesser deities are immune to ability damage, ability drain, banishment, bleed, death effects, energy drain, mind-affecting effects, negative levels, paralysis, permanent wounds, petrification, poison, polymorph, one energy type.

A lesser deity's defensive abilities can only be breached with a successful rank check.

Speed: A lesser deity's base speed is doubled.

Melee: A lesser deity's natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as epic and its alignment for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction.

Special Attacks: A lesser deity receives a divine bonus equal to its rank on all attack rolls. A lesser deity does not automatically fail on a natural 1.

Special Qualities: Save DCs are equal to 10 + 1/2 HD + rank + Cha modifier unless otherwise noted.

Divine Aura (Su): A lesser deity has a divine aura which deeply affects lesser beings. Extending out to a radius of 100 ft./rank, a divine aura is a mind-affecting effect. A creature that successfully Will saves cannot be affected again by the lesser deity's divine aura for 24 hours. As a free action, the deity can adjust the size of its divine aura, make certain beings immune, or choose from any of the following effects.
Daze: Affected beings stare at the deity in fascination. They can defend themselves normally but can take no actions.
Fright: Affected beings become shaken and suffer a -2 morale penalty on attack rolls, saves, and checks. The merest glance or gesture from the deity makes them frightened, and they flee as quickly as they can, although they can choose the path of their flight.
Resolve: The lesser deity's allies receive a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and checks, while lesser deity's foes receive a -4 morale penalty on attack rolls, saves and checks.

Saving Throws: A lesser deity receives a divine bonus equal to its rank on all saving throws. A lesser deity does not automatically fail on a natural 1.

Ability Scores: A lesser deity's ability scores are assigned as the designer sees fit.

Skills: A lesser deity receives a divine bonus equal to its rank on skill checks.

Salient Divine Abilities: A lesser deity gains 1 salient divine ability per rank. Save DCs are equal to 10 + 1/2 HD + rank + ability modifier unless otherwise noted. A lesser deity's salient divine abilities function normally within an antimagic field and ignore spell resistance.

Alter Reality: Save DCs are equal to 10 + 1/2 HD + rank + Cha modifier unless otherwise noted. A lesser deity's alter reality functions normally within an antimagic field and ignores spell resistance.
As a standard action, a lesser deity can duplicate the effects of any spell of 9th level or lower with respect to its portfolio. At will, as a standard action, the lesser deity may cast any domain spell it can grant as a spell-like ability. The lesser deity's caster level equals its HD + rank.
A lesser deity cannot duplicate spells and cast at will spell-like abilities within the same round.
A lesser deity can use any domain power it can grant a number of times per day equal to its divine rank.

Rank Check: Two deities in opposition roll 1d20 + rank + strata: demigods 1, lesser deities 2, intermediate deities 3, greater deities 4.
