View Full Version : What DnD creature would you be?

Ali
2006-12-29, 08:10 AM
What DnD creature would you be? Anything, from Silver Dragons to Gelatinous Cubes. What is your favorite?

I personally would be a Celestial Dire Ape, in the Wilderness of the Beastlands.

Pegasos989
2006-12-29, 08:13 AM
Kobold, certainly. I am physically weak (though my cordination is decent) but I like to think myself of cunning (which might very well not be true but well, does that really matter?). I would fit the kobold mindset very well.

As a class... I would like to be kobold sorcerer or wizard.

Were-Sandwich

LeShay with ninja levels. For awesomeness.

Ali
2006-12-29, 08:17 AM
Hmm... as a celestial dire ape, I don't have a class...

I shall simply have 6d8 hit dice!

On second thought, 7d12 hit dice. Muahahaa!

Captain van der Decken
2006-12-29, 08:18 AM
Do you mean which would you like to be, or which would be most similar to you?

Ali
2006-12-29, 08:20 AM
Anything you want I suppose... what you would most like to be, let's go with that.

Captain van der Decken
2006-12-29, 08:24 AM
Ok.. Doppelganger, definately. Change my shape at will, and read thoughts? Yes please!

Pronounceable
2006-12-29, 09:27 AM
Human of course.

shaka gl
2006-12-29, 09:34 AM
What id like to be: since doppelganger is taken, id go with the Fey`ri. Also shapechanges, but with wings and elvish blood (chicks dig that)

But the most similar would probably be a NPC that gets killed in the surprise round to show how awesome the enemy is...

Callos_DeTerran

This is easy. A tsochar. Anybody who really knows me and that monster would agree too.

I would SOOO love to be an ice devil (gelugon), but any baatezu would do.

I just love ice powers (no I don't like X-Men, my sister does) and lets see...
ice storm
wall of ice
cone of cold

...if only they could use ice age...

Maybe an ice devil evoker

Wraithy
2006-12-29, 10:44 AM
Wraith obviously, then i could glare hatefully at the living :smallmad:

Lich or a tyranorsaurous rex I would like to be.
What i'm most like is a big hobbit/ halfing or a dwarf.

I'd be one of the Human Barbarians summoned by the Horn of Valhalla...

Or an Imp. This one:

That is a rather diabolical-looking imp...

Then again, I suppose most imps are diabolical.

I'd like to be a Gold Dragon, possibly Bronze Dragon. Super-ancient, powerful being with shapeshifting abilities? Oh yeah.

Saph
2006-12-29, 12:44 PM
I'd be a Bronze or Silver Dragon.

Then I'd use their alternate form to take the shape of a cat, or something else that's small and non-threatening, and go exploring.

Second the Doppelganger. That covers pretty much any Large or Smaller Humanoid forms I might ever want to take. Succubus or Marilith would be nice. Yuan-ti Anathema. Mostly because then you get worshipped by nubile females with {See here. Not really NSFW, although the innuendo might be} (http://www.galactanet.com/comic/413.htm) in their birthday scales. ;)

Kobold! High likelyhood of Kobold. Probably with the shifter class (3.0) Then i could be a Kobold who could be anything at all!

Then again, theres a possibility of Red Dragon. Breathing fire is awesomes. Then again, being a Red Dragon with Shifter class? Also pure awesome >.>

Bronze Dragon. No question. Flying...flying...

geez3r
2006-12-29, 07:38 PM
I would like to be either a minotaur, or a red dragon. Minotaurs are basically my favorite monster from any sort of mythology, second only to a fire breathing dragon, but I'm too greedy to share so I'd be the LE one. Though the constant stream of heroes trying to kill me and take all my stuff would get annoying after a while.

Succubus.

Repeat 3 times and feel the smile slowly spread across your face. I love that word.

I'd be an awakened egg with levels in Swashbuckler.
Oh wait, a serious monster? How about a Celestial Umber Hulk? We have axiomatic bulettes, an Umber Hulk with a halo makes just as much (little?) sense.

Well, for me, there are seven possibilities. One, I could be Pun-Pun. "WORLD DOMINATION!" Two, I could be a lich. "SLOWER WORLD DOMINATION!" Three, I could be a goblin sorcerer. "SLIGHTLY SLOWER WORLD DOMINATION!" Four, I could be a half-orc multiclass fighter/ranger by the name of 'Badazz Mastakilla.' "INCREDIBLY SLOW WORLD DOMINATION!" Five, a fully grown red dragon. "FOILED ATTEMPT AT WORLD DOMINATION!" Six, a minotaur bandit. "GIMME YOUR MONEY, OR I BASH YOU GOOD!" And seven, a Kobold rogue with a few levels in fighter. "WORLD DOMINATION!"

My first answer would have to be a resounding, "WEREWOLF!" because I love werewolves dearly.

If I actually stopped and thought about it though... hmm... Let me get back to you on that. I might want to be more normal and just be a shifter or something.

As for what I probably *actually* am, I'm an Aasimar.

*sigh*

My aasimar cleric of Tempus 7 / fighter 4 / warpriest 3 had a chance to become a werebear. I unintentionally failed the save to remain uninfected. Afterwards, I took the belladonna.

*sigh*

Never gonna happen again.

I already know exactly what race I would love to be.

Shifter (from Eberron)

Two words: Weretouched master.

It's not quite the same as lycanthropy, so those damn Silver Flame Paladins can't technically call me spawn of evil, and I get so many cool bonuses.

Skyserpent
2006-12-30, 02:57 AM

What would I be? I would probably start as a Wizard/Cleric, but end up dead from excessive curiosity. ;) What would I _like_ to be? A Wizard/Cleric who gets away with his excessive curiosity.

Or else a beholder. Beholders are cool.

Ah, theres too many to pick from. Fun with kobolds, fun with liches, fun with dry liches, fun with dragons...
I'll go with two:
1. Paragon Prismatic Dragon
Breath flashy colored lights, practical immortal, AND power beyond belief? Plus, you have an excuse for hoarding lots of shinies...
or...
2. Psuedonatrual Half-Fiendish Monster of Legend Spellwarped Tarrasque
His hobbies would be picking up castles and dropping them, and being utterly unkillable.

I would most likely be:
A guardinal. I am just not sure which one of them. I only know that it would not be an Equinal or Cervidal, which leaves me with Musteval, Lupinal, Ursinal, Avoral or Leonal.

I would want to be:
A Solar.

Succubus, "I'm evil and need to hide behind illusions spells to cover my nasty wings, for people to really like me."

Nymph, "I'm hot, live in the forest, protecting my sacred grove!"

Which one of these sounds more entertaining?

Ryuuk
2006-12-31, 10:52 PM
^ It's a matter of tastes really, you could always go with the succubus who had a change of heart and became a paladin.

As for me, Dopplegengar or Changeling seem fun, although any bipedal that can gain flight would be nice. Heck human would do as long as I can get a hold of a few Sorcerer/Wizard/Warlock/etc levels.

Silver Dragon, I'd say. All the fun of being a dragon... flight, magic (including healing magic), innate shapeshifting for as long as you want, and of course the ability to become an unstoppable engine of destruction, should it ever be needed. They also have fun special abilities, including the innate cloudwalking, and, most importantly, the most fun personalities to actually exist with. If I'm giving up all my human instincts, it'd be nice to know that I'd still be able to have ones close enough so that I can interact with people, and keep some semblance of my human life.

Only downside is the alignment... But then again, Always Lawful Good means that in one in a million cases (AKA, PCs), you can be Chaotic Good if you want to.

Celestial Half-dragon Gelatinous Cube with Wizard levels. There's always room for intelligent, evil uberjello.
...either that, or a Doppleganger or Mind Flayer. Because both of those are awesome.

What I'd probably be:
Werebear.

Nymph, "I'm hot, live in the forest, protecting my sacred grove!"

Which one of these sounds more entertaining?

I see it more like this:

Nymph: I'm hot, but if you look at my hotness and fail your save you go blind. Also I probably don't have the best personal hygeine.

Succubus: Okay, so I'm a demon and may or may not devour your soul. But, in the meantime, I can be anything you want me to be...

A doppelganger can assume the shape of any Small or Medium humanoid (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/typesSubtypes.htm#humanoidType). In humanoid form, the doppelganger loses its natural attacks. A doppelganger can remain in its humanoid form until it chooses to assume a new one. A change in form cannot be dispelled, but a doppelganger reverts to its natural form when killed. A true seeing (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/trueSeeing.htm) spell or ability reveals its natural form.

No, unless you can find a small or medium humanoid with a sword for an arm (a natural sword arm too, no cheating and finding one with a missing arm and a prosthetic.

Neither. Solar can change shape to be any small or medium humanoid, and they destroy (literally) the competition, hands down.
Yeah, solars are pretty awesome.

Just to piss off the people who are dissing vampires, I'd so be a vampire. A vampire bard that likes to party like its 1999. Well, not just for that reason alone. I've been a vampire nut since I was a wee tyke.

And yes, the DND vampires suck donkey balls.

Vampires are only bad for players because of the massive level adjustment. They're great fun for DMs, especially since its incredibly easy to make them a recurring villain. Vampires get DR, fast healing, alternate forms, resistances, a whole bunch of special abilities (like dominate), a bunch of ability increases (totaling +18), a total of +56 to various skills, and five bonus feats. Sure they get a few weaknesses, but those are easily overcome. And thats all for +2 to CR! Yeah, for PCs the +8 LA is a killer, but for anything else?

Now that I've given a huge boost to a classic undead horribly abused by crappy fiction, I would like to take this time to say that vampires do suck. They suck very much indeed.

Pun intended.

Sadly, you can't have more than 1 size category difference between the base creature and the base animal when applying the Lycanthrope template.

that means humans can't be were-pygmy-marmosets...

There are still plenty of cool races that can become licanthropes. Most of them are a tad bit dumb but they still make great mele units. The only problem is that most of the races that can become lycanthropes are low level adjustment races.

Ogre, Orc, Ogre Mage, Merfoke (Realy cool but impractical), Lacothah, Goblin/Hobgoblin, Gnoll, Githzerai/Githyanki, any of the numerous elemental Giants, Bugbears, Troglodyte, Trolls make excelent lycanthropes, and The Yuan-Ti can probably be the 'funnest' lycanthropes to play though not necesarily the most affective. These are all simple examples of course but they are also the easiest to alter into player characters so whatever.

Half-Force Dragon Leshay. Failing that, Paragon human with monk or druid levels (at least 20). Either unstoppable or Buddha.

I'm going to have to agree with Vorpal Tribble and say Unbodied. The level of awesome they have is hard to pass up by pretty much anything.

I've been identified as a werewolf by a person very close to me, though the D&D ones being Evil doesn't fit. ;)

Note: When I play D&D, I play AD&D 2e. I have issues with 3.x's spell lists, skill sytem, increased magic item availability, and mix-and-match multiclassing.

Hmm... my gut reaction was Elf, because in my settings, they're all immortal, can trance while doing other things, are nearly untrackable, and walk on snow, like the elves in Lord of the Rings. (Forget balance, Lord of the Rings is awesome!)

Githzerai Zerth might not be a bad choice... Dak'kon kicked some serious ass in Planescape: Torment, and high-level fighter/mages are nigh unstoppable.

But you know what? Looking through the MM just now, I saw unicorns. And unicorns are flipping metal. They live for over one thousand years, have a +2 bonus to their natural attacks, and get to hang out with dryads, nymphs, and virgins. A Unicorn Fighter/Mage/Cleric would rock.

I forget, can multiclass characters take kits? I'd have to look for a suitable one...
