Vince Gilligan has stated that he now intends to move forward with a new cop drama “Battle Creek” along with a “Breaking Bad” prequel spin-off called “Better Call Saul”. “Felina” will be an extended 75-minute long episode, just like “Granite State” was.
In “Breaking Bad” episode 15 “Granite State” Walter was holed up in a cabin in the middle of winter slowly dying with only Ed the extractor keeping him company. Ed occasionally brings him supplies and a chemotherapy bag, but Walter has grown a beard and a full head of hair. Walter eventually chooses to leave the cabin despite Ed’s warning that he will be caught and Ed doesn’t plan to return. Walter wants to send money to his family so he packs $100,000 in a cardboard box and calls Flynn from a local bar, trying to convince him to take the money. To his shock Flynn rejects him completely and ultimately, screaming at him that he should go die and that he wants nothing to do with him anymore. This point is easily Walter’s lowest point in the show, when even the flimsy justification that he was doing everything for his family crumbles and he understands that he has only brought suffering to his family. At this point he places a call to the DEA, says he is Walter White and waits in the bar with a drink, ready to be arrested.
