Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 171 through 180.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on October 6th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :roy: 162 - Soliloquy (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0162.html) roused himself from his self-enforced solitude and grabbed the award. Who will it be this week? Only you can decide that.

It's time to breakout the birthday cake, hand out the party favors, and celebrate 10 YEARS OF THE ORDER OF THE STICK with....

Initially I wanted to vote not for 174 (which would resulted in my vote going to 171), but the weasel just sells it all - So I'm in on 174 - Interlude of Dooooooom!

172 is an extremely close second but I'm going for 180.

#179: Liar, Liar is still one of my all-time favorites. That one for sure.

177 for me.

This time, it's a very tough decision between 171, 172 and 179.

...

#179 it is. Roy and Belkar dialogues are brilliant.

- 171 The Prisoner Dilemma.
Just because Belkar is so awesomely Belkarish, he even gets Haley to consider his proposition as a profitable option. That, and his view on cruel & unusual punishment (Roy's response is priceless).

Hm... none of them really stood out for me, but I suppose 172 will do.

173 is the best.

172-174 are the best of the bunch in my mind, going to go with 173

172 for V's smile at the end.

Not a strong batch, but I'll go with 177
little lizardy noises, reptilian reproductive anatomy and diminutive cretin FTW

173 - it reminds me of a simpler time, when stick figures could unleash horrible amounts of arcane might at each other without fear of disrupting the greater storyline.

I think I will vote for 177 diminutive cretin!

179 barely takes it. As great as "Your approval fills me with shame" is, "I don't trust you enough to believe you lied" edges it out.

Damn, really tough choice, but I'm going with 179.

Lot of nice things, but I'd go for 171

exactly for this reason

A good batch this week. 171 and 173 both have really good jokes. I've never quite been a fan of 175, given that I play hex-based wargames and find a hexagonal grid to be MUCH better than a square one. 177 and 179 are also good.

I think I have to go with 173. Explosive Runes never gets old, and the in-comic acknowledgement of V's ambiguous gender has always struck me as funny.

Close call with 179 for a few, but the second reading has declared my winner.

Argh, this is a tough set to choose from. Lots of classics.

#179 is when I started reading the comic, so it's got some nostalgic appeal.

#171 definitely made me LOL with the "spending time with family members? Sick, twisted!" #172 is a good character moment. #173 is a recurring gag, but (IMO) not the best instance of it. #177 is an absolutely wonderful pair of punch lines, and the beginning to a long enjoyable feud.

Gah. Whatever, I guess I'll vote for ... #177.

Aww, man, this is where the going gets tough for me. Fortunately, 174 will always stand out for me as one of my favourite of all time, gotta love that weasel. Still, a few good ones against it.

Ok, let's have a look. 171 makes me laugh, 172 is worth a mention just for V's knowing smirk in the penultimate two panels, and always good to see a well-done montage like in 174; also the weasel is great. 175 176, 179 and 180 are all mildly amusing, but less strong than others in this set. V as lizard in 177 and 178 is good, but V as a wizard who doesn't forget her ticket in 173 is better.

Tough choise, but I'll vote 173, with 174 as runner up.

171 The Prisoner Dilemma (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0171.html) - It's the funniest of the bunch.

Close choice this week between giving into the dark side and being complimented by said dark side.

I think I will go with 179 by a hair.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:belkar: 179 Liar, Liar (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0179.html) is the winner this week! It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
