I'm just making a thread in which I want to regularly show off my combat system. I won't pretend there's a higher purpose to this thread. I'll introduce two characters, have them fight to the death, and annotate. My annotations will often be humorous, don't take them too seriously. The thread is open to commentary, and suggestions for future fights.

Let's start with something simple. A typical human versus a typical wolf. Let's have the human be unarmed and nude, so the fight can be chall... aw, who am I kidding? It's a friggin' wolf. I would have an awfully hard time making this fight challenging.

Damage 2-1+5=6 bludgeon, 1vp damage, wolf's head has 15/20hp, wounded, wolf now deaf and dumb, health 55/60(5), bludgeon bleed starts 5*2/minute. ;Not a critical, headshot has no benefit.

Human right hand takes 1 vitality damage on impact. ;Her VP just stopped her from breaking a knuckle.
;Bitch, please.
;*CHEEP* *CHEEP* *CHEEP*

Human makes attack of opportunity, bash (right leg) at wolf's torso for attack 12+5+6+1-2=22 vs defence 13, hit ;This is getting embarrassing.

Human attempts guard save (lower right leg), 19+5+1=25 vs DC 22, success+3
Damage 2+2-3=1 piercing, 1 bludgeon, Damage reduction 1-4=0. human's lower right leg has 22/24, health 199/200(2), piercing bleed starts 1/4*5/minute, bludgeon bleed starts 1/4*2/minute. ;Total 1.75/minute, I do partials by skipping applications, here it's 1/4, so every 8 and 20 rounds instead of 2 and 5.
Human attempts constitution check, 18+5+4=27 vs DC 21, success+6. No nonlethal from bleed, duration shortened to 7 minutes.
Wolf makes grapple check, 11+1+5=17 vs DC 11, success. Wolf latches onto leg.

Turn end.

Human:
Bash (left leg) at wolf's torso, attack 11+2+3+1-2=15 vs defence 12, hit.
Damage 2 bludgeon, wolf torso now has 20/25, health 50/60(10), bludgeon bleed increases 2*2/minute. ;Boy, when that 30 second mark rolls around this wolf is going to die and a half.
Wolf attempts constitution check, 4+2=6 vs DC 21, fail. ;That's a "why bother" check.
Special: Wolf takes -2... we did this already. You know.

Bash (right leg) at wolf's torso, attack 10+5+6+1-2=20 vs defence 11, hit.
Damage 3 bludgeon, wolf torso now has 17/25, wounded, health 47/60(15), bludgeon bleed increases 3*2/minute. ;Wounded torso means pain if the wolf acts, 25% slower movement, no sprint, half attack bonuses, etcetera. It's pretty nasty.
Special: Wolf now takes -5 to everything bash impacts. Yes, subsequent bashes stack.

Thrust (right hand) at wolf's head, attack 11+5+6+1-1=22 vs defence 19, hit.
Damage 4-2+5=7 bludgeon. Wolf head now has 8/20, crippled, health 40/60(20), bludgeon bleed increases 7*2/minute. ;This wolf is now blind.

Incap 2/4. Strain comes at 1s, limited to 3s.

Thrust (right leg) at wolf's torso, attack 17+5+6+1-1=27 vs defence 6, hit.
Damage 4+5=9 bludgeon. Wolf torso now has 7/25, crippled, health 31/60(29), bludgeon bleed increases 9*2/minute. ;Crippling is much worse than wounding.
Shock 50%. ;-8 to all above
Human right leg takes 1 bludgeon damage from impact.
Incap 1/4. ;Wolf cannot take actions without self-injury, limited to 1s per turn.

Thust (left leg) at wolf's torso, attack 8+2+3+1-1=13 vs defence 2, hit.
Damage 4+2=6 bludgeon. Wolf torso now has 1/25, maimed, health 25/60(35), bludgeon bleed increases 6*2/minute. ;Screwed. So very, very screwed.
Incap 0/4. ;Unconscious and helpless.
Human left leg takes 1 bludgeon damage from impact.

Turn end.
Nonlethal rate removes 1 pain from human. 199/200(5) ;This is one way to do this, distributing the healing. Or you give it all at once every increment, for simplicity. It just says 5/minute, do it however you want.
Combat ends.

Wolf dies on first bludgeon bleed application 18 seconds after the end of combat.
Human is awarded 45xp for this fight. Killing the wolf awarded an additional 45xp, for 90xp. Increased to 99xp by experience rate.

Human stops bleeding with 186/200 health, assuming she doesn't treat her bite, which since she doesn't even have any clothes is a possibility. Pain is already gone at this point. She has taken minor damage to her hand and each leg, nothing significant. If her bite doesn't get infected (optional rule I haven't even started writing yet) she has no chance of being killed, but she is still injured. She should to go find a safe place to rest and recover some health.

Her 13 missing hit points would recover in just under three days, two if we assume an eight-hour rest period. Her six points of integrity damage (2 on right hand, 3 on right leg, 1 on left leg) will recover in just over a week, or in three days if she takes two days of bed rest. Two days of bed rest would also restore her health. However, days of bed rest seem unlikely when she doesn't even have access to clothes. Unless she did have access to clothes, and just chose to go without. Which makes you wonder where she was that she had reason to be naked and ran into a wolf. You know what, nevermind. I'm overthinking this.

EDIT:
Forgot extremities only bleed for 1/4. Fixed.

I have since simplified the ruleset, but that fight above should go just about exactly the same way, just with less time devoted to each turn and fewer rules to forget and **** up the whole fight.

Let's try something a little different. A duel. Two men with rapiers and medium clothing. Let's assume the clothing covers them entirely, which isn't totally realistic but whatever, maybe they're wearing masks or something. Both combatants will be level 1 nobles, and identical. As for why they're fighting, I don't know. One insulted the other's mother? Stupid reason to fight to the death, but they're nobles, just roll with it.

Human, male, adult
Medium humanoid
Height: 180cm
Mass: 90kg
Character grade: Commoner (5)
Experience: 0
Experience rate: 110%
Experience value: 250xp
Level: Noble 1
STR: 12
AGL: 10
CON: 10
PER: 10
CHA: 10
RES: 10
Base move rate: 2m/s (one square per second of action, x2 jogging and x4 sprinting)
Skill points: 30
Skill rate: 3
Skills: ;I'll skip this part because it won't have a serious effect
Feats: None
Traits: NPC
Vitality: 1/1
HP: 200/200
Head integrity: 48/48
Torso integrity: 60/60
Arm integrity: 24/24 & 24/24
Forearm integrity: 12/12 & 12/12
Leg integrity: 36/36 & 36/36
Lower leg integrity: 24/24 & 24/24
Natural armour: 1 medium ;+1 armour rating, energy defence and damage reduction
Defence: Innate 2, Active 9, Armour 6, Energy 6 ;11+6 minimum, 21+6 maximum
Damage reduction: 4/--
Immunity: None
Base reach: 100cm ;+75cm from their rapier

Noble A rolls initiative, 20+5+1=26 critical initiative
;This means Noble A gets two turns each round. Second one counts as 6, and is thus after Noble B's turn.
Noble B rolls initiative, 16+5+1=22
;Just so you know, I *AM* actually rolling dice over here.
Noble A wins initiative.

Noble A:
Horizontal swipe at Noble B's head for 18+12+10+1+2=43 vs defence 23+6, critical hit. ;Got him on the forehead, splitting his skull and cutting into the brain. It's pretty nasty.
Noble B attempts guard save, 12+6+2=20 vs DC 41, fail.
Damage 2+6=8 slashing. DR 4. +4x critical damage. 1 vitality damage. Noble B head has 45/48, health 160/200(40) slashing bleed starts, 20*10/minute. ;Head wounds inflict triple VP damage, so this still rounded to the same as if he had no VP.
Noble B attempts constitution check, 6+5+4=15 vs. DC 30, fail. ;He failed that one HARD.
Attribute damage, 2 STR, AGL, CON, 6 PER, CHA, RES. Noble B now has 10, 8, 8, 4, 4, 4. This means health is now actually 140/180(40), and all body parts just lost 2pts per die max integrity, head has 36/48. Natural armour dropped as well. And there's more.
Jagged wounds, extra 4d3 bleed/turn for 5 turns. ;Average 40, pretty nasty.
Shock 80%. ;This is -2 now.
Incap 3/4. ;Now allows 4s of actions harmlessly.
;Yeah, a slashing crit to the head is fatal. Quickly. That should not be a surprise, we're talking about having your brain cut open.

Vertical swipe at Noble B's forearm for 14+10+1+2-4=23 vs. defence 26+5, miss.

Vertical slash at Noble B's torso for 7+5+1+2=15 vs. defence 10+5, hit, automatic critical.
Noble B attempts guard save, 4+5+2=11 vs DC 13, fail.
Damage 6+6=12 slashing, 6 bludgeon. DR 4-1=3. +2x critical damage. Torso has 35/50, health 68/180(112). Slashing bleed increases 27*10/minute. Bludgeon bleed starts 18*2/minute. ;This is the part where you fall down and bleed to death.
Noble B attempts constitution check, 14+4+4=22 vs. DC 42, fail. ;Why even bother with that one? He's so very screwed.
Attribute damage, 7 STR, AGL and CON. Noble now has 3, 1, 1, 4, 4, 4. Health is now -2/110(112)... **** it, he's dead already.

Thrust at Noble B's torso for 16+6+5+1=28 vs defence 7, hit. But who cares? He's stabbing a corpse.
Combat over.

Noble A is awarded 250xp for the victory, extra 250 for the kill. 500xp increased to 550xp by experience rate. That's over half an experience level, which should drive home how much lower of a body count you get in this system compared to others, at least sapient body count, and how much more important those fights are as a result. That said, since experience is split between party members and you tend to be a couple levels above your enemies, half a level isn't very common.

Also, how fast this fight just was, to the point where it was literally decided by initiative? That's why you wear armour instead of regular clothing. Also why people without good guard saves should stay out of melee.

If you actually read this far, congratulations! I'm undecided about what kind of fight to do next and looking for suggestions. Go ahead, I'm sure you've got an idea.
