Anyone know why they didn't make it into 3.X? I've hunted around for some kind of developer explanation, but keep coming up blank.

Relatedly, are there any creatures that you think fill in the "helpful fey" niche in the 3rd ed. sourcebooks?

I recall the leprechaun in 2nd. Ed. Sadly, I have not found them in 3.0 or 3.5.

The brownie has never seen publication, at least as far as I'm concerned.

But if you're looking for helpful fey, 3.5 has a plethora.

MMI: Dryad, Nymph, Pixie, Grig, Sprite, Nixie

MMIII: Thorn, Glaistig (to an extent), Petal

Frostburn: Uldra, Domovoi

I'm sure there are many, many more, but those should give you a head start.

Hope it helps.

Both leprechauns and brownies were "core" monsters in both 1st and 2nd edition. The brownie was even available as a possible familiar for mages. Which makes it all the weirder that they were just dropped with (as far as I know) no explanation in the jump from 2nd to 3rd.

I appreciate the suggestions for helpful fey.

Edited to Add: Thanks for the link, Sith. Glad they made it in somehow!
