I've done a fair bit of searching on this one with little success, so hopefully a more knowledgeable Playgrounder can help me out. My latest character concept is hindered by the need to slap a specific extraordinary special attack onto a Medium-sized character, but the only "copy a monster's tricks" spells I can find apply to supernatural and spell-like abilities. Do any of you know of a spell, feat, item, template, etc. which can do the following:

Bestow upon a Medium-sized character, ideally from a PHB race, a monster's extraordinary special attack. In case it matters, I'm looking for Swallow Whole, but a more generalized method would open the door to many more interesting characters
Have a permanent duration, or at least the ability to be Persisted and recast daily
Operate in her natural form (ie, no polymorph or lycanthropy)
Use only official material, including Dragon Magazine and campaign settings. Homebrew and third-party books are banned at this table.
Not involve a Sarrukh in any way (my head can't withstand another thrown book)

Assume that this character has levels and feats to burn, an arbitrary amount of gold, and access to friendly 20th-level spellcasters.

I recognize that this might be an impossible task, in which case I'll have to track down the nearest Sarrukh and wear a bike helmet to the gaming table. Wonder what that does for my AC...

Step 1: Get monster you want

Step 2: Use fusion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/fusion.htm)

Step 3: Use Astral Seed (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/astralSeed.htm)

Step 4: Kill yourself

Step 5: Profit

A fair number of the drift options for Geomancer grant (Ex) natural attacks.

*edit* No Swallow Whole, though...

Are you sure you wan Swallow Whole (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialAbilities.htm#swallowWhole)? On a medium creature it only allows small and smaller creatures to be swallowed.

There is no general way to do this. Moreover Ex abilities all have to do with the creature's physiology. So you cannot gain them without some kind of physical transformation i.e. you cannot have a claw attack without having claws.

That's... brilliantly simple, actually. The way Astral Seed is worded seems to make it a generalized method for turning temporary changes into permanent ones at the cost of a character level. I'll be using this!

Would I be correct in assuming that it only "locks in" changes to physical ability scores, extraordinary abilities, size, natural armor, movement and natural attacks? Based on effects like Mind Switch and Magic Jar, it seems that a creature's spell-like and supernatural qualities are functions of its mind rather than its body and so they wouldn't be preserved by Astral Seed.

Fusion: The fused being knows all the powers you and the other creature know, has the sum of your and the other creature’s power points, and knows or has prepared any spells you or the other creature possesses (if any). Likewise, all feats, racial abilities, and class features are pooled (if both creatures have the same ability, the fused being gains it only once). For each of the six ability scores, the fused being’s score is the higher of yours and the other creature’s, and the fused being also has the higher Hit Dice or manifester level that you or the other creature possessed before becoming fused.

Astral Seed: To grow a body, you (in the storage crystal) must spend ten days in uninterrupted solitude. The body’s constituent parts are pulled as ectoplasm from the Astral Plane, then slowly molded and transformed into a living, breathing body that is an exact duplicate of your body at the time you manifested astral seed (the crystal itself breaks down and becomes a part of the new organic body).

Go talk to your DM depending on the power level of the campaign it will surely get ganked. Also if the monster has abilities that you do not want (such as vulnerabilities) there are spells to strip abilities in the serpent kingdoms that do not rely on Sarrukh usage.
