We have made a minor revision to the rules and the way the forums operate. Currently, the rules state that threads are still "fresh", and can be posted to, for 6 weeks (42 days). After that time, the thread is considered "stale", and you may not reply to the thread unless you have permission or it falls under one of the granted exceptions. We are extending this period by 3 days to 45 days.

Why make such a minor change, you ask? Well, this isn't some arbitrary change - we will also be changing the default thread view age from 1 month to 45 days. This will make the rules and the default thread view age conveniently line up, and means that when you are browsing the main forum pages with the default thread view age, you will only be seeing the threads that are "fresh" and can reply to, and that all "stale" threads you can no longer reply to will not be immediately visible on the standard forum views.

If you follow a link in a post, a link from elsewhere on the site, a link from an external site, or use the search feature (when that is reenabled), or if you change the thread view age, you will of course see the older threads, and it may not be obvious that it is too old. So, this is a guide to assist you only, you should still always check the date of the last post before you reply.

Any particular reason you aren't just changing the default view to only show threads from the last 42 days, and keeping the rules the same?
Just curious:smallsmile:

Because that isn't one of the options.
