In Little Fears:Nightmare Edition, you determine success by rolling a number of d6s based on your Attributes (Think, Move, Speak, etc) and what are called Qualities. Each Attribute has 1-6 'points;' and each point adds one d6 to your roll.
'Positive' qualities adds 1-3 d6s. However, "Negative" qualities subtract one or two dice.
What I can't find any reference to is this:
If your attribute is low, say only 1 point, and a Negative quality gets applied to the roll, bring your total number of dice to 0 or lower: do you even make a roll, or just automatically fail?
Can't find any mention of a minimum number of dice to roll (and two days of googling hasn't shed any light on the subject), so I thought I'd ask.

In case anyone was interested, here's the answer I got from Jason Blair, the game's creator:
Let's tackle your questions in order:

1. If negative qualities remove
> dice from your attribute checks, what happens when you have an attribute
> of 1?

Then you're at zero dice (no matter how low you would have gone) and
you'll need Belief, either from yourself or from a friend, in order to get
the dice to attempt something.

2. Also, can a positive and a negative quality both affect the same roll? If
> not, which one takes precedence?

Yes, they can. Apply both to see how many you should add or subtract. For
example, if you are attempting to solve a hard math problem while your
entire class is staring at you, it might go like this: You have a Think of
3 which gives you three basic dice. You have "honor student +2" which adds
two dice for a total of five but you have a "Doesn't do well under
pressure -1." You'd apply that negative Quality too which would knock you
down to four dice.

1) Correct you just fail. Its set to 0 so if you gain belief benefits it increases your die pool even if its a 1 Attribute stat with a -2 Quality

2) Incorrect, you always only apply one Quality. And you apply the negative if its between a negative and a positive.
For a positive and another positive its a case by case basis. Athletic +2, Hockey +3 using a using Roller Skates depending on the situation falls, such as using them to get speed for a jump(Athletics) but using them for purely speed(Hockey)
And if its between two Negative qualities whichever provides the greater penalty
