Assuming Incantations (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/incantations.htm), Midgard Dwarves (FB), powerful Outsiders and monsters (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/lammasu.htm) with spellcasting (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/dragonTrue.htm) above 6th level (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/naga.htm#guardianNaga), etc. can be used to create magic items that require spells above 3rd level and caster levels above 6th level...

ranger
Frostblood (DM) Desert Half-Orc (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/environmentalRacialVariants.htm#desertHalfOrcs), Half-Humans variant (RoD p150), Wild Shape Ranger (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#ranger) 6. Magical Training (1), Power Attack (3), Item Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/itemFamiliars.htm) (3), Extra Wild Shape (6), Sword of the Arcane Order (E6), Natural Spell (E6), Leap Attack (E6), etc.

His Item Familiar started as a belt with Con +1 and Str +1 (2,000 gp), he upgraded it to a Monk's Belt (13k gp) with the other properties added (no additional cost per MIC p234), paying 6,500 gp and 520 xp. The entire item cost him a total of 8,500 gp and 520 xp, and it has a Wilding Clasp attached for another 4,000 gp, totaling only 500 gp short of ECL 6 WBL, and the 10% xp bonus from Item Familiar more than makes up for the crafting cost. His remaining gold can be used to add more spells to the spellbook he gained from Magical Training (per Rules Compendium).

He can Wild Shape 4/day for 6 hours each time, or 24 hours per day. Use the form of a Fleshraker Dinosaur (MM3), cast Shield every so often, etc.

barbarian
Water Orc (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/elementalRacialVariants.htm#racesOfWater) Half-Goristro (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060630x&page=1), E6 replaces the +4 LA with 0 pointbuy, so each stat starts at 8 and gets modified by his racial adjustments: Str 28, Dex 6, Con 20, Int 6, Wis 6, Cha 8. He also gets +7 natural armor, DR 5/Magic, Half-Fiend resistances and spell-like abilities, etc.

I'd use Wolf Totem Barbarian (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wolfTotemClassFeatures ) 2/ Half-Orc Paragon (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/racialParagonClasses.htm#halfOrcParagon) 3/ Orc Paragon 1, qualifying for Half-Orc Paragon due to being an Orc with a half-race added, thus half-orc. Trade Rage for Whirling Frenzy (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/classFeatureVariants.htm#rageVariantWhirlingFrenzy ), trade Fast Movement for Pounce via the Lion Spirit ACF in CC. Feats should be Extra Rage (1), Knock-Down (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/divine/divineAbilitiesFeats.htm#knockDown) (3), and Intimidating Rage (6). Say he visited the Otyugh Hole detailed in CS four times for Menacing Demeanor, Skill Focus: Intimidate, and Extend Rage twice. That's 12,000 gp for four Otyugh Hole feats, he has 1,000 gp remaining for whatever else he needs.

He gets two Slam attacks, each of which add 1.5x Str as though they're two-handed weapons, and they overcome DR/Magic due to his own DR. With Whirling Frenzy he gets three attacks on a full attack at his highest bonus, so no need for iterative attacks. He can wear a cheap Chain Shirt and have a decent AC with his natural armor and Whirling Frenzy. Don't forget that size bonuses apply to Intimidate checks.

magician
Half-Giant Primordial Giant, Beguiler 1/ Wizard (Focused Conjurer) 5, Versatile Spellcaster, Practiced Spellcaster: Beguiler, Cloudy Conjuration. Use Martial Wizard to get Improved Initiative instead of Scribe Scroll, and get the Domain Power ACF at Wizard 5 for the Magic domain so he can still use wands of spells from prohibited schools. He can spontaneously cast any 1st or 2nd level Wizard spell he knows as well as up to 2nd level Beguiler spells by spending Beguiler slots on Versatile Spellcaster. He can get Invisibility at will from Primordial Giant.

thief
Whisper Gnome, Thug Fighter (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#fighterVariantThug) with Sneak Attack (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#fighter) 6, Weapon Finesse, TWF, ITWF, with E6 feats get Weapon Focus/Specialization, the E6 Fighter capstone feat, Melee Weapon Mastery, Improved Critical, and Greater Weapon Focus.

cavalier
The last build in this post (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=301617#9).

acrobat
Silverbrow Human, (Savage) Bard 6, Dragonfire Inspiration, Melodic Casting, trade the Suggestion song for Song of the Heart, Words of Creation. Be sure to get the E6 Bard capstone feat for another +1 Inspire Courage. Get a Badge of Valor and know the spell Inspirational Boost. Max ranks in Balance, Tumble, etc. and he's an acrobat and a spectacular performer.

Is this...

3.5e with 3rd party content?
3.P, with pathfinder content generally having precedent?
3.P, with 3.5e content having precedence more often than you would expect?
A P6 game?

no third party content. no pathfinder. all characters are human teenagers with no templates.

Then why 'Cavalier' and 'Acrobat'? Where are you getting those from? Some of these are class names, some of these are descriptions. IE, they are not 3.5e classes. Please clarify whether you are using class names or descriptions, and give a much much more detailed description and class name if you are asking for help with a particular class.

sure, the descriptions aren't necessarily character classes. however, the acrobat should be really good at tumbling and she might be stuck with a magic javelin. cavalier might not even take advantage of mounted combat and might be stuck with a magic shield.

It sounds like you need to tell us a whole lot about this magic equipment stuff.

the idea of the thread was to see if the characters from the '80s cartoon could be made not to suck. having their wbl tied to the items of dubious utility they had on the show would make it extra good, but not completely necessary.

Why didn't you say that?!?
