For those who don't want to click on the links, let me summarize: Unwritten is an RPG based on the Myst series of games, and will be/is being built using the FATE core system. With 24 days to go on a $5,000 goal, they've... Reached over $15,000. Still, might as well back them, get some goodies and maybe even more stretch goodies! We're getting a People & Ages sourcebook too!

I'm excited! I've never played FATE before though, what's it like?

FATE is phenomenal as a story-telling engine, and as such is my favorite RPG. Do not, however, mistake it for something that will satisfy the tactical-minded person. It does not share the D&D DNA of miniatures wargaming, and as such isn't for everyone (what is). It's a very easy game to learn, and a difficult one to master. I recommend starting with FATE Accelerated Edition, which is available for free as an SRD (or pay what you want), and is the core of the game, presented in a manner that is very easy to understand and build out to the "full" version or beyond.
