Hey all, I'm trying to make a chart in excel, and what should be a simple task has become very vexing.

I've got a table, and the first column is supposed to be my X-axis, the other columns my series. I can't figure out how to make that happen! The second thing causing issues is that the values in the first column are not equally far apart. My ideal chart would use the values there to plot the data on a linear scale (so if one part of the series was 9,000, 10,000, 15,000, it would show a linear scale from 9, 000 to 15,000, and our the data in the right places).

Help please? How do I do this?

Nevermind! I figured out I was supposed to be using a scatter-plot, not a line graph.

Carry on!

Yeah, they did change this — around 2007 I think — and it confused me for a while. I'm glad you've worked your way around their intuitive interface.

I spend a significant part of my life these days being outsmarted by something that can only count to one.
