Just a fun little feat I thought up after watching a show where the hero just always seems to know they're being watched, even when viewed from afar.

-=-=-=-=-

Sense of Scrutiny [Psionic]
You know when you are being watched.
Benefit: You can sense when another is looking directly upon you with particular intent. This may be from any distance, even via scrying and the like; as long as they are visually aware of you, you are aware of it. You do not know the distance, motives, or even how many are looking upon you, but it is enough to alert you of those nearby. If you are in a natural sleep you automatically awaken.
Special: There is a 50% chance that you are not taken unaware during a surprise round and may react normally. As well, you gain a +4 bonus to all search, spot and listen checks to notice the viewer.

Cool. It's like a sixth sense...

Improved Sense of Scrutiny [Psionic]
You know who is watching you.
Prerequisites: Sense of Scrutiny
Benefit: You now have an improved chance to notice who is scrying you. You get an additional +4 to your listen, spot, and search checks made to detect your watcher, and with a successful sense motive check, you can learn the motive to their watching.
Special: You may take this feat multiple times. Each time you gain and additional +2 to your listen, spot and search checks, as well as an additional +1 to your sense motive.

in that case, if you're watched on all night by scrying, will you be fatigued the next day?

So, is the feat always on, and your psionic focus is expended when it's used? Or do you have to stop and expend your psionic focus to use the feat? "Wait -- someone might be watching us! Lemme check.."

No, While you have your focus, it is always in effect

Oh... OH! I follow. Haha. Okay, I understand now.

It is great fun - especially for the four rogues trying to sneak up at Your back.

You can turn it off by expending your psionic focus if you want...

Besides, rules don't actually say that you need to sleep. ;)

Isn't Psionic Focus automatically expended when you sleep?

Bah, I don't really know anything about Psionics. Mainly because I hate it...So overpowered.....

Psionics in 3.5 are not overpowered, but here is not the place for this debate. I suggest you head over to the Gaming forum and ask the people there if 3.5 psionics are overpowered.

OT: Like the feat, VT. Quality work, as usual.

...what if the person watching you has Chaotic Mind/Hostile Mind?

PS: I'm baaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaack.

Welcome back, get to work on the MitP ya slacker ;)

What if the thing watching you is undead and doesn't percieve things visually in the first place? Liches can scry too, ya know. :)

It should have a prerequisite that dictates no little girls may take the feat. Otherwise, the guy in Aqualung might get busted.

How long does it take to get busted? I mean I'm pretty sure that if I'm ogling the hottie blonde psionicist and she's got the feat, she'll know... But if I'm scanning the crowd and pick her - among several others - out but don't watch for more than a second or two, is she alerted?

I guess the real key is how intense does the attention/scrutiny need to be for it to trigger the spell? Spot check, 1 round of indirect attention, 1 minute...?

That'd be a nice add-up, however it approaches too closely to 'Detect Hostile Intent', the power.

Had forgotten that bit, yes. I'm tempted just to say you don't have to be focused at all.

You really want to go there? :smallamused:

Nothing. Just call it a sixth sense :smallwink:

Well, they are watching you by some means. Most undead only have darkvision, and its never explained how that works.

Thats why I put the line 'particular intent'. If you are just glanced at while someone is looking around the room you won't noticed, but if you are being ogled... yeah, I think you'll know.

If you're a hot blonde psionicist, you probably don't need this feet to know you're being ogled.

Why not just state that sleep causes your mind to focus on everything, instead of one thing, so while Psionic Focus is expended the feat remains active because you're still focused but not on any one thing.

Heck if you're a hottie blonde psionist you don't even need a feat to tell you who is doing the ogling. If it's male, it's doing it.
