research new invocations

I've got a warlock finally up to level 12 and was wondering if any of you fine, knowledgeable folks have seen, in writing, a way for Warlocks to research new invocations?

I realize invocations are really granted powers, but mechanically, aren't clerical spells as well?
What I'm looking to make is small changes to existing invocations.
1. Change Brimstone cone to look lIke flaming bats(Ala Diablo III)
2. Create a Hungry Darkness that follows the warlocks moves.

The first one is a minor aesthetically change. You don't need to research it, as you can just describe it like that.
