Hey Playgrounders

Staves are one thing that has always bugged me in 3.5. The Wizard with his trusty walking stick is a truly Iconic fantasy trope but as they currently exist they do not seem to really fulfil that function very well. They are expensive as hell and most of the stock ones are meh at best. Even if you go to the effort of making a custom one your wooden companion is only good for a mere 50 uses before he is an expended piece of very expensive firewood.

So imagine my joy when I found the pathfinder rules for Staffs (found here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/staves ). I am strongly considering implementing these rules in my latest 3.5 game however I would like to ask around for folks' opinions. Is there any obvious exploits or pitfalls that I might be missing? Will this mess with game balance in some unexpected way? thanks for your opinions! :)

PS I will be altering the formulas so that you will still lose XP for crafting as normal, before anyone asks!
