View Full Version : The Order of the Stick Kickstarter Reward Collection

ChristianSt

Since there are some nice "Stick it to You"-avatars floating around in the Playground and the Kickstarter comment section, I wanted to start a collection of all custom artwork for the Kickstarter rewards (and I would like to see more of them, too ), and even the Giant said:
I have no objection to anyone sharing the images I draw for them. A thread for it sounds like a fantastic idea.

I will collect all you have to share - but only if that person is ok with it. I will not post anything without permission. And I ask you to not post these anywhere else without permission of the owner, too. Mainly Crayon Drawings and "Stick it portraits", but I will post anything that is a reward for the Kickstarter (so if you want to share signature doodles, that's awesome, too!). If you have something that is a Kickstarer reward that doesn't fit into an existing category I will simply create one for it!

So with that being said, here is the:

For anyone that follows this thread and might wonder why the positioning of images is changing frequently: I wrote a script that generates the tables and randomizes the content (to treat all images equally :smallwink:). If you visit this thread after new updates/changes have been made, the content inside each category will be positioned differently (doodles switch positions between categories, too). New content might be anywhere inside any given category, but each category has a timestamp. If you are only looking for new stuff, you only need to check content with new timestamps.

If you have some custom art to share, please say something here or PM (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=66197)/Email ([email protected]) me (best providing a link I can use here, or providing me a version I can edit as needed and upload it to my photobucket account).

Suggestions are welcome, If you think you know how this could be improved, just say something!

And last but not least: I want to thank Rich for making all these awesome rewards and all backers willing to share them.

Great idea to gather all of these wonderful pieces or art in one place! Really looking forward to seeing the rest of the Stick It To Yous, and in due course the Stick It To Your Families too.

Thanks to all who contributed so far (and promised to do so)!
Without your help it would still be my single avatar and a lonely Roy. :smallwink:

One questions for organising them:
I'm not quite sure how to organise the doodles, at the moment I kinda like to sort them by character - or would you prefer to mix them up?

I think by character works. Another option would be by recipient.

I'll post mine up probably next weekend or so.

I think sorting them by character makes sense, if you want to sort them. It makes any differences in the artwork stand out more.

I love that Thog doodle

I love that Thog doodle

Yeah, I think Thog is my favourite so far - maybe someone has a puppy for him? :smallwink:

I have no clue about what characters are used for the doodles, If I remember correctly someone said something about Redcloak, and the Order is in for sure, but I kinda want to see what for characters are all included. Maybe even something like Julio Scoundrél, O-Chul, Miko, the Flumphs or the Lawyers? So I want to find out what is out there .

I am aware of their existence (they are some more floating in the The Post-Kickstarter Discussion Thread: Bask in the Afterglow (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233766)), but I don't want to just include them without permission.

I know they are more or less public, but I think that asking is the right way to do (and I contacted as many of them as possible)

Anyway, this is nice, to see all the artwork that was done as rewards. And yes, I am insanely jealous.

No, that'll be when I make/share a Youtube video of me prancing around the room singing joyous songs and waving my artwork in the air, when I get my crayon drawing in the mail after patiently waiting for Brave Sir Thumb to recover for as long as he needs... :smalltongue:

But I think the people who really deserves a "thank you" are all people contributing - without their help I couldn't show anything.

[Also I don't know what it says about me or my usage of the vB code :smallconfused:, but since I wasn't really satisfied with how editable the vB code for this thread was, so I have written a Perl script to generate the vB code for the tables ]

Thanks for the kind words and the additional contributions. I really like that we can see doodle of 8 different characters, albeit it is a bit sad that we don't have V :smallfrown:.

I hope that we don't have to wait that long that I can start to post some Crayon Drawings.

I have heard from quite a bunch of people that they're willing to post their drawings and have heard a few awesome "settings" for them - I can't wait to see some of them

Yeah - The Order of the Doodles is complete!
And the V doodle is really nice, too! (My favourites are still Belkar and Thog, but V is close)

Now the hunt for other characters begins, but I', still happy to add any duplicates. Some of them are quite different, especially the Elans. Also if someone takes the time to post them here or send them to me, I'm not going to not take my time to include them here. Maybe I try to organize them differently (because that list gets kinda hard to process in one sweep), maybe one section for different characters, and another for duplicates - I'm tinkering a bit on it.

I would think Xykon should be out there for sure. I'm not sure on MitD, because a doodle of it might look strange (but I would like to be convinced otherweise :smallwink:). But seeing there are a Thog doodle I think the chances of Sabine or Nale are great, too. I'm not sure of Tarquin, but wouldn't rule it out (he is some kind of fan favourite, but is maybe a too recent addition to the comic compared to other characters). But seeing the Flumphs are featured, I think nearly all characters are possible. I'm personally hoping for Julio or some Lawyers *g*, but also some *slash* *slash* from Miko would be awesome (or Tsukiko or Shojo or ... just to many great possibilities ).

The V doodle is awesome.

ChristianSt

Yes, I think compared to how this started this is now really something that can be called a collection :smallcool:. And a really great showing about how much of us have contributed - I don't have exact numbers ready, but I would say that around 30 people have contributed (and that number is only growing).

I have talked with some people and I think at least five have said they want to share they Crayon Drawing - so I am confident they will show up some day .

I really like how many Stick It to You I was able to collect - although unfortunately I know about some backers of the drive that have a Stick it to You (most of the times because they use it as their KS-avatar), but I can't contact them and they probably are not aware of this thread :smallfrown:.

I hope really that we will see some more Family-portraits, too, they are simple gorgeous!

I can't really follow your analysis. Nobody had influence in what doodles they received. So either Rich had drawn more Durkons than Haleys or we have just more people posting here that did have received certain doodles more often than others. I personally think it is the latter - I assume the Order is represented equally.

If each autographed book has a signature doodle, there should be well over 1700 books with doodles (some yet to be delivered due to patience/crayon packages).

This thread is just scratching the surface when one takes that into account. :smalltongue:

How you calculated that number?

Because if it is only the number of signed books listed on the KS, it might be pretty off. I think each backer that got a shipment directly from Rich and contacted him to add a signed book has gotten it. At least I know I did.
But yeah, I don't think I'm able to collect the same percentage of doodles compared to the Stick its already here. I think the most interesting question is how many Crayon Drawings we can collect (If I counted right and remember the number correctly, there should be 144 Crayon Drawings).

I know for a fact there are 'hidden' signed copies in the KS list coz I have one too. Which is why I said 'well over'. :smalltongue:

Personally, I think there are probably over 2000 books with autographs. Maybe a lot more than that. And in one of the updates, Rich mentioned that he had 200 ornaments to sign as well.

I seem to recall him mentioning some sort of ballpark figure of the number of books he had to sign, but I didn't feel like trawling through each and every update to find out. :smallwink:

Well, I'll be. Look what I just happened to find. :smalltongue:

Apologies for the somewhat fuzzy nature of the pic. I'm handling that artwork with absolute kids gloves until I can get it properly framed and protected. But I still wanted to share, so I took a quick pic with my iPad and uploaded to my personal Photobucket account.

If people can't read it easily, it says:

Pure awesome. :smallcool:

(NOTE: ChristianSt, I'll PM you a link to the full sized original jpeg of that pic if you want so you can play with it/resize it for your own purposes. Or just use that. I'm easy :smalltongue:)

Also got a doodle of Roy glaring back at me in my copy of SS&DT, but since we have plenty of those, I didn't take a pic of it. I'll send it to ChristianSt if he wants thought.

I did go back and look at my Roy Doodle, and I noticed it is slightly different than the ones ChristianSt has up and running. In mine, Roy has his trademark scowl that we all know and love. But his sword is stuck to his back instead of being out front in a semi-guard position.

Don't know if that's different enough for ChristianSt, but I thought I would mention it all the same.

I'm right now updating the OP, but just wanted to quickly drop in.

First: It is nice to see this awesome drawing. Thanks for sharing, and I really hope it will not stay alone for long. :smallwink:

Second: I have no "standard/rules" for what is different enough to share in the OP. If you give me your Roy Doodle I will include it. I don't want to judge whether something is "more of the same" or "just different enough", so I (happily) include anything I get. It is purely up to you. :smallwink:

Third: I'm not sure what I do exactly with the Crayon drawings from a resolution point (possible just a case by case basis), but I wouldn't mind higher resolution images just in case. Feel free to PM them (or a link), though I think the one you posted should work quite fine.

I'm also liking the transcript idea, so I think I will include that in the OP, too.

At the mo, the pic on my home computer I have of the crayon drawing is the same 72dpi of the one here, but is ≈ 1900 x 2600 in size (the one here is, for comparison, is ≈ 650 x 900). So I guess calling it "higher resolution" was a bit of a misnomer, but I was in a hurry. :smalltongue: But it IS larger (much larger :smallwink:) and thus could be resized to a size larger than the one I posted without loss of quality if you wanted to for whatever reason.

I'll send a link (along with the Roy Doodle) sometime in the coming days when I have the time. Bit too late right now on the Left Coast of the US to do anything. :smallwink:

As the others images I have included it inside spoiler tags. I'm kinda on the fence whether crayon drawings should be spoilered or not. I hope we will see others in the future and spoilers are probably better to navigate.

Beautiful. One day I will post such a drawing here, but I don't think it will be soon ("patience" packages are worthy of the name :smallwink:).

For big images, I suggest you just post a link to a Photobucket/Dropbox/other location, with the highest resolution version you have.

Out of interest, how specific were you guys about what you wanted in your sketches?

I know that the Giant comes up with the jokes, but was it a case of "MitD and Thog playing games" or "MitD and Thog playing a bizarre mix of different boardgames"?

The board game (and stack of cards on the left) is Candy Land (thus the Candy Cane Forest). Although it looks like they might be using chess pieces instead of Candy Land tokens on the board.

Yeah, imo that is clearly one part for each splice. The tricky part is which splice said what :smallwink:.
Since I don't want to use "Splice #1" or something similar in the OP, I assigned them as follow:

[Ganonron]: Hey, look! A harmless puppet pretending to have real cosmic power.
[Jephton]: Also, that boy has a clown.
[Hearta]: Ha ha! Burn!

I'm fairly certain on Jephton somehow and think Haerta makes most sense for the "Ha ha! Burn!", but if someone has solid reasoning for other assignment, feel free to speak.

According to Rich's update on the Kickstarter site (admittedly a bit out of date), less than half of the Crayon Drawings are done. By definition, the Patience for a Crayon Drawings packages haven't started yet.

In addition, there's no way for anyone to know if the backers are aware of this thread - heck, there's no saying if they even read the forum, beyond Rich's News page.

Finally... Well, there's no obligation for anybody to share.

I'm a non-patience crayon drawing backer and haven't relieved any sort of notice about my reward yet, so it's a safe bet Patience-backers' drawings haven't been started yet.

Hey sam79. I only just saw this post. My exact wording on the survey was:

"The Four Conscience Outsiders
Arguing about whether X doing Y to Z was morally justified. (Obviously not anything serious. I don't want to spark debates if I post it on the forum.)"

I'm not in the position to have that decision, but I would certainly first try just taking a picture. Only if that result isn't acceptable for whatever standards you have, I would pondering whether to use a scanner. From the images I have seen I can't say what was used for them.

I'd suggest hiring professionals. I found a local framer who did my prints just a bit more than $200 combined (I also had the small artprint framed). Just the peace of mind of having someone how knows that they're doing and getting the best quality glass/frame was more than worth the money for me.

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. I had a professional framing done for a painting print of Heath Ledgers Joker that I got for my wife and it looks really good and has never had any issues, even after having moved a time or two since then.

I think the exact phrasing was something along the lines of, "Miko along with whatever poor bureaucratic deva winds up having to work her case. I imagine her looking annoyed and the Divas desk being covered in relevant files". That's not the exact request, but I think it's in the right realm.

If nothing else, I'm sure the deva will find Miko quite trying.

Every time someone shares a crayon drawing it feels like Christmas to me. . . . *checks calendar* :smallwink:

Anyway, Belkar is just awesome and thanks for sharing! I have updated the OP to include it.

Well, to be fair, it is hard to argue with the logic. :smallwink:

I'm too new to be able to post links or images, but you can find my KS reward drawing on my twitter account, I'm Jamoche there too. My request was a non-spoilery scene with Kazumi and her child, with her giving life advice about avoiding the usual fate of unnamed NPCs. I got Kazumi, Daigo, and baby, with Kazumi saying “I know remembering 37 names will be hard, but someday you’ll thank us”

Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing. Do you mind mentioning the brief you gave?
Like someone earlier I'm curious as to what ppl asked for. I know that woulda been one of the biggest problems with getting one. Wouldn't know what to ask for!

From the kickstarter survey I filled out:

For your custom crayon drawing, which OOTS character(s) did you want featured in your drawing? (Maximum of two choices.)

Thog and Elan

Did you have any particular theme or interaction in mind for your drawing (such as a running OOTS gag)? We can't guarantee all requests can be honored, especially in the case of characters acting outside their established behavior patterns.

Something piraty perhaps, cheese, rats...

In the meantime thanks to bringing this thread back to my attention: It seems that photobucket changed some stuff and I had to switch the image hosting to imgur... :smallannoyed:

The Mod on the Silver Mountain: If any of the Patience posters wish to show their art in the future, please let me know. Until then, it should not be needlessly bumped.
