Someone here besides me has to be a Nerdcore fan (or at least they better or I'm going to feel like a real geek). So, who's your favorite Nerdcore artist? Mine are MC Frontalot and mc chris.

Ah, yes. MC Frontalot. I've got his album on my computer. He's very underestimated, and most people here (me included) would scoff at the idea of "good" hip-hop at first.

I myself up until I heard MC Frontalot and some of the other nerdcore artists would have rather carved my own eyes out with a spoon rather than to listen to hiphop. Mostly because mainstream hiphop is full of idiots who are proud to be ignorant and that bothers me. Nerdcore actually has good, funny lyrics. Frontalot's Rhyme of the Nibelung is a good example, with him being sure that the opera was a "rendition of Star Wars" with a hip-hop version of the Ride of Valkyries in the background. So, that proves for me that the music itself isn't all bad, it's the mainstream artists that make it suck.

What? Good hip-hop? *brain explodes* Seriously, would someone care to explain?

Nerdcore is a subgenre of hip-hop or rap, usually with the artist parodying an aspect of "nerdy" culture. (I.E. MC Frontalot's song "Yellow Lasers Beams", where he sings about a hot girl he met at a Star Wars convention.)

Wow glad I searched for this before I started this topic myself. I'm a big fan of nerdcore hiphop. I just recently came across this site for a documentary called Nerdcore Rising (http://nerdcorerising.com/). I definitely suggest people at least watch the trailer.

As for favorite nerdcore rappers....I'd have to say Frontalot and MC Lars though the more I hear of MC Chris I'm starting to like him more. I really don't like Optimus Rhyme though

MC Frontalot is supported by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. Therefore, he is immediately good.

I personally prefer Geek rock to Nerdcore but some of MC Chris' music is really entertaining.

I'm only aware of Frontalot, and that's because he was on the front page at Penny Arcade a few times. Love some of his tunes, though. Er... could anyone mebbe list a few more Nerdcore artists so I could try googling 'em? ( MC Chris is another? )

Isn't MC Chris the guy from Aquateen?

Yep, he was MC Pee Pants or something in a couple of Aquateen Hunger Force episodes. I dont really watch AHF so I don't know what his signicance to the episodes was.

Yup MC Chris, I believe, got his start on Aquateen. You can hear some of his music on his myspace (http://www.myspace.com/mcchris)and his website (http://www.mcchris.com/)

Another nerdcore rapper is MC Lars. I'm not as big of a fan of him and some say he's more of a post post punk/emo but whatever. He still has decent music and a rap about Moby ****. He also has a myspace (http://www.myspace.com/mclars)and a website (http://www.myspace.com/mclars)

One more that I know specifically is MC Hawking, there's no music on his website (http://www.mchawking.com/)but there is some on his myspace (http://www.myspace.com/mchawking)

And of course there is MC Frontalot. He has a myspace but his website (http://frontalot.com/index.php/) is much better. If you go to the FAQs (http://frontalot.com/index.php/content.php?page=info#faq)there is a list of other nerdcore rappers

Phew I think that covers about all of it
