Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

Over the next few days, we're taking a bit of a break and entering The Best of the Hundred Tournament for Comics #101 - #200 as we take the time to decide which of the strips really are the best of best.

For full details about the Stick Awards, and any questions about them, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the five listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting, which only lasts five days during the Best of the Hundred Tournament will close on October 30th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

The winner of this semi-final will go on to the finals which will be held after this second semi-final is done. The two strips that get the most votes during the semis that DIDN'T win, will also reach the finals. So voting is extra special important this time around, as it will determine who the 'Wild Card' entrants are.

In the previous semi-final, :redcloak: 149 Cultural Differences (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0149.html) smoked the competitors around it to sieze the headdress of Semi-Finalist and in so doing, it became the first entrant into the finals.

Meanwhile, :xykon: 110 Revenge is Best Served Really Cold (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0110.html) and http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g68/Cats_Are_Aliens/Banners/Hiram_zps9c7e54c3.png 122 Adventurers Are Coming! Adventurers Are Coming! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0122.html) are currently holding down the Wild Card spots with seven votes each. Thus if another strip is to enter the finals without winning this semi, it has to get at least 7 votes.

It's time for us to vote for our favorite strips of all time (or at least this set of fifty) in...

A great batch, except for maybe the hobgoblin one.

#179 even if it's in vain.

179: Liar, Liar is still one of the funniest OotS strips ever.

I think 200 should win this one.

I except 200 to win this Semi, and it is an awesome strip, but somehow I don't like voting for it.

But as some wise man (and/or Sexy Shoeless God of War) said: "I just don't trust you enough to believe that you lied."

And that is true enough for me, that 179 - Liar, Liar has secured my vote.

200 - The Confrontation (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0200.html) - This is one of the strips that truly signals a change in the comic's focus, and it's a great strip by itself as well.

Ok, it's a really hard choice between 179 and 190. I thought I was loving 190 more, but then I saw Roy's face in the second-last panel of 179 and so:
179.

I like # 190 because of the good Redcloak character development, even if it is horribly evil and dismissive of the lives of others...

I'm not making a good case for 190. Still, it's my pick

179 is a thing.

200

Everything. The epic fight scene, the sweet Haley/Elan stuff, the foreshadowing of V's tactical limitations (DISINTEGRATE! Oh no, that didn't work, I'll have to try something more subtle... FIREBALL!), Haley being cool, Belkar being owned, and a sexist male being stabbed with a sword. Good times.

This is looking like a two-horse race, which surprises me; 179 is good and all, but IMO 151 and 190 are both funnier and 162 is more a important and profound moment for Roy.

But none of these are as good as 200, IMO. Easily the pick here, basically for the reasons oppyu said.

Personally, going with 162

I'll go with 162 as well. I'm honestly surprised 179 is getting as much love as it is; it was rather lackluster for me.

Lots of good ones, and probably certainly 200 will win, but I have to go with the funniest of the bunch: 151 (bonus points for off-panel violence )

151, tho as I noted, any of these 5 beat any of the last 5.

Uugh, all of these are really good ... I suppose I'll go with 200.

This grouping is MUCH better. Hopefully a few of these make it to the finals.

200. It and Soliloquy are my favourites of this semi-final; I'm going to vote for the one that has the stronger chance of winning.

Like many of the other posters, I found this a hard week to choose from. These really are a set of classic strips covering character growth, out and out comedy and mocking D&D rules. If you want to show someone what OOTS is all about, you could do worse than these five strips. In the end, only one can get my vote. And that one is one of the true classics of the strip. One that was talked about for years to come and planted the seeds for literally hundreds of strips and thousands of forum conversations. :smalltongue:

200 it is.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:miko: 200 - The Confrontation (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0200.html) is the winner of this semi-final! It now moves on to the finals for the Best of the Hundred tournament (101-200).

With eight votes, :belkar: 179 - Liar, Liar (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0179.html) will be one of the Wild Card entrants.
