Let's say you have an assassin and you take levels in arcane trickster (or any other combination of classes), would you get more spells per day once you get past CL 10 or are you stuck with what the table says until you hit level 21 (assuming your class even has an epic progression)?

No, you can't get any more than the actual class progression, even if you effectively have more levels in the class than the table shows. The epic rules in the ELH/DMG are extremely clear on this, and the same applies pre-epic.

Not much point in doing that anyway, just go Rogue 4/ Wizard 1/ Assassin 5/ Arcane Trickster 10, and get Wizard 11 casting with 10d6 sneak attack. Mix in a single Spellthief level for Master Spellthief and you'll still have a +11 BAB by 20th. Substitute Wizard for Warlock with Whisper Gnome or the Spell Hand feat if you want a ranged touch attack gimmick, though the Acidic Splatter reserve feat works just as well.

Oh, too bad. It's a shame the alternative casting classes get stuck with so little spells per day.

The assassin/arcane trickster was just an example. It could just as easily have been blackguard/war priest or any other class. Thanks for the tips, though.

those spells are meant to compliment your character, rather then suddenly making it a wizard , harry.

Harry the rogue, takes three rogues/ two monk/ 5 assasin. Harry got to spend some time learning spells so he can cast them now.

But that does not make Harry a Wizard.
