So I found two alternate magic systems for 3.5 I believe and they seem interesting enough but I wanted to see what the Playground thought were the Pros and Cons of the systems and whom they benefit more either Prepared or Spontaneous casters, and why you think so.

Recharge Magic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/rechargeMagic.htm)

Spell Point (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/spellPoints.htm)

If you know of another I don't have here if you could post a link please and your insights on its pros and cons related to the question above.

Recharge Magic (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/rechargeMagic.htm) - So Much Book Keeping! ARG! it BURNS!

Spell Point (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/spellPoints.htm) - Just play with psionics.

I'm not a particularly big fan of either of them, but I'm also not a big fan of vancian magic. That said, there's a homebrew magic system that I'm rather fond of, which is based off of spell points. The big difference is that, rather than continually increasing the number of points a caster gets, it decreases the cost of lower level spells and increases the number of points you have very slowly. Give it a look, it's called Mana Based Spellcasting (http://www.dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Mana-Based_Spellcasting_%283.5e_Variant_Rule%29).

How bad is the bookkeeping? I am curious because i am thinking of making a custom caster based off one of the systems for fun.

I know spell point is basically psionics. But i was asking for full casting system i know spells are more powerful and not designed for it. So how do you view that type of system.

Edit: I like the recharge method as it nerfs some of the wizards broken tricks. With specific times aloted to powerful or long lasting spells they cannot abuse them while still letting them cast from that level. However utility spells and the like are general and temporarly remove a full spell level out of the wizards grasp for x number of rounds but a minimum of 2.
