A world of Robots, vote-building

I've been having thoughts recently, mostly what a world would be like populated by exclusively by robotic forms.

why?

global warming span out of control, people used robot bodies to survive, as their own bodies couldn't cope
some sinister and unknown reason
capabilities, the populace too on robot bodies as they where simply better, possibility for rich to still be 'human' or whatever race they came from
other (suggest)

I'd vote for 2. Feels right.

Alternatively 4, (either techno-organic virus or as a response to an existential crisis. Perhaps they were no longer able to have children, so they had to find a way to survive as a race/culture after biological continuation of the species became impossible.)
