So, here's the deal:

I'm trying to capture my Laptop PC which has a screen resolution of 1920x1080. Now, I don't have a second monitor (after some search-fu, I've found I need an extra monitor to capture my PC screen.) Now, if I buy an external monitor with a max resolution of 1366x768, is it still possible to capture my laptop screen (which, again, is a resolution of 1920x1080) or will the highest resolution I can capture be 1366x768 (AKA the second external monitor)? Will I have to buy a monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1080?

You should be able to adjust the resolution and aspect ratios of each monitor independently, provided you do not mirror the display. If you want to put your laptop display (exactly as it appears on your laptop) on the new monitor, you WILL be limited to 1366x768, as the monitor cannot display anything with greater resolution than the number of pixels it actually has.

To reiterate: you can have the laptop display at 1920x1080 and a second display on the monitor at 1366x768, or you can have both displaying at 1366x768. You cannot force a 1366x768 monitor to display a 1920x1080 resolution.

That's what I thought. Thanks Djinn =)

Why do you need an extra screen to capture your desktop? Are you using an external capture device or software on the PC?
