Thinking on trying to make a wizard style character based on mining, about to start dwarven campain based on characters running a mine. any ideas or help?

Earth dreamer prc could fit in such a build. Maybe earth bloodline sorcerer with a sand shaper dip?

If you're playing a dwarven wizard, then Runesmith is a perfect prestige class.
It has early entry requirements, and you cast spells with no somatic components, thus no arcane spell failure chance. Tank it up! Of course, if you are going to wear that armor then you should probably focus on your combat ability and build a gish.

Find some way to get the Earth Devotion feat. It's not really optimized, but it would be cool "flavor" for your character.

An earth elemental companion or familiar would be cool as well.

Elemental Savant: Earth - at 10th level gives you the movement modes of an Earth Elemental.

I'm going to second the Earth Dreamer/Runesmith combo. It's perfect in every way.
