Hey, everyone! I'm about to play a 3.0 game, though answers from a 3.5 perspective are welcome as well, and I was wondering; are there any Bard spells with costly material components? And if so, are there any particularly good ones? I'm asking because I'm wondering if Blood Magus is at all compatible with Bards. No, I don't particularly mind losing a caster level or two for the cool abilities, but obviously it's a literally useless PrC that doesn't even give me fluff if there aren't any (use-worthy) Bard spells with costly components.

So, what good spells do you guys know of on the Bard list that have costly material components, if any such spells exist at all?

The bard spell list was changed a lot between 3.0 and 3.5 so comparing the two isn't useful.

False vision has a material component costing 250 gold.

Identify has a material cost of 100 gold.

Illusory script has an ink cost of at least 50 gold.

Legend lore has several costs attached to it.

Programmed image has a material cost of 25 gold.

Scrying requires a focus costing 1000 gold.

Sepia snake sigil costs 500 gold.

Those are the ones I can find in the PHB which have a decent cost.

Keep in mind the bard is mostly a utility caster and backup for certain events. None of their spells are bad generally, they just might be situational.
