The battered old cargo ship rocked as it hit atmospheric turbulence, the whine of the engines fading away as the secondary thrusters kicked in, beginning the atmospheric decent; or at leas, you hope they do, as it had to trust the worn out scrapbucket the GF had passed of to you as 'Transport'. Two weeks aboard have done little to ensure your trust in the vehicle. At a report from

“Now, as you begin your final approach to Nostros 7” came the voice of GF general Eric Lanstrom, marred with static, as a male silhouette appeared on the ships com-screen “I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of your mission before this turns into a major galactic incident. As you know, your main objective is the pacification of Conrad Guilliman and his allies – by whatever means you deem necessary. This remains your primary concern, and if you succeed in this task then you will be paid in full upon completion. Then, ladies and gentlemen, this contract with you will be complete.
However, due to events beyond our control, there is a further chance for you to aid the GF and, if such a thing motivates you more, increase your pay packet. due to the unknown political situation on the planet and a number of... unsettling reports of treasonous action by locally stationed GF forces, which is the stated reason for the rebellion on Nostros. We have reason to believe that this is part of some plot orchestrated by Guilliman. As a result, you will be heavily compensated for any aid in unravelling this mess in a peaceful capacity, be it by confirming the base rumours of GF aggression, providing information of the rebellion's motives, or ideally diffusing the situation yourselves if possible; You do not have permission to slaughter these “rebels” unprovoked, and if you do so then the GF washes its hand of you and any claim you have to the bounty contract.
Remember, whilst you are on the surface; you do not work for the GF. You are not affiliated with the GF. You are simply a group of mercenaries. Though it saddens me to have to say this, if you are compromised, the GF will not be able to aid you. Once you have completed your task, you will need to return to either this ship or the local GF offices – if they still stand and are in operation. All aid we are able to render has been loaded onto your transport – including a sizeable bursary that you may reclaim for any personal expenses whilst working, as well as information of the planet.
We cannot say the location of Guilliman on the surface, or even if he remains upon Nostros. Our intelligence network did not return to us empty handed, however. You will find the co-ordinates for the research facility where Con... Guilimann turned traitor, as well as that of the supposed GF attacks. Also included is the location of the rebellion's public base of importations, as well as the GF embassy
Good hunting, and may fortune favour you. Over and out”

The screen fades to black once more, closing away with an audible buzz, plunging the room into silence once again. Out the window, the heavy fog from the atmosphere begins to fade away, and below you you see a brilliant vista of lights of every color and hue, the sprawling capital of Nostros, Sanatosis. The city gets closer and closer as the ship descends, revealing a multi-teared metropolis of blue steel and bright lights, surrouned by a dome of shimmering haze, a protective field that opens around your ship as it drops in. The land around the city walls is barren, looking almost lifeless in the darkness.

Soon, the ship enters the third tier of the city, or at least a raised platform at the same height, separated by a gap of at least a couple of miles on either side. As the ship sets down inside the spaceport, you can see from the windows a number of armed guards paroling the grounds, hands on rifles. Stepping out of the spaceport, the air feels stiff with anticipation.

As you exit the vehicle, you are greeted by a number of the guards led by a middle aged man dressed in a crisp, black suit and holding an information tablet. He smiles a practised smile as you exit the ship, managing to keep a straight face even when Kxyuther steps out the door, having to duck to fit. “Good evening, gentlemen. Sorry about the less than hospitable greeting, but I hope you understand we have to take procautions these days. Now, may I ask what brings you to our fair city?” he asks, fatigue evident in his voice

your own personal vehicles, if any, are stored in the cargo hold of the transport ship, along with a large supply of food products and other essentials. Enough for the ship to look like a traders vessel. In addition to your group, there are a number of GF spaceforce pilots, transporters and mechanics, disguised as civillians.

also, could everyone please make a perception test.

behind the man you can see burn marks on the metal walls, and one closed doorway looks to be melted shut. This doorway is being covered by two guards that look much more alert than the others

you can smell the distinct odor of burnt flesh, though heavy efforts have been taken to cover it up.

Nostros
Nostros 7 is the 7th planet of the Nostros system, and the only one inhabited, except for outposts established upon the others. The planet does not have a major star it orbits, instead veing in the effective orbit of 4 nearby stars. As a result, the planet does not experience day or night in the traditional sense. The planet is in a perpetual state of twilight outside of personally created light, and the surface is naturally below freezing. Most life on the planet is found in one of the three megacities, Sanatosis, Pyrithha and Delos-Anthas. The planet is heavily industrialized, with much of its import/export being in either chemical or machinery.

The people of nostros are mostly human, but as with most worlds in the GF, there are a number of other species living on the planet as well. The planet has no native sentient life, but was heavily settled after the discovery of vast mineral wealth underground.

Even by the standards of the technocratic Space Pirates, this ride was notably uncomfortable. Everything that might have been construed as "comfortable" was gutted out a long time ago and what is left is barely liveable, and that is by human standards. To the hulking monster that is the last known surviving subject of Project Helix, it was downright cramped. Simply getting from room to room was an endeavor, the cooridors and doorways being narrow and cramp by human standards made even the most mundane tasks difficult. To make matters worse this tin can that is somehow spaceworthy, though Kxuvthr doubts it would even be considered seaworthy, can't even serve decent food! His heightened physiology comes with a heightened metabolism so he has had to make due, to Helix's own disgust.

Heck, if anything can make Helix look to his old cryo-tube with fondness and longing, that HAS to mean it was bad. At the very least the prospect of sleeping on burnt-out rubble brings a shred of hope to the Elite Pirate that his situation is likely to immediately improve. Certainly General Guilliman's bounty should allow him to live comfortably, and the offer of citizenship as well as a pardon will furthermore ease his mind that the Federation will not be coming after him. It's bad enough that his own race has deemed him a failed experiment to be decommissioned. Where does one go when neither heaven nor hell takes you?

Helix, after having long planned out in advance that it will take a while to squeeze out of the transport, is one of the first through the airlock. Fortunately they at least are aware of his beneficent intent and as such know better than to attack him on sight (not that trying would do any good.) Upon the asking, Helix makes a simple reply, bringing a massive fist in front of himself with an arc of lightning running across the Wave Quake Generator gauntlet. I'm here for Guilliman.

Antsy, Onal taps out a staccato rhythm on the bare metal, in tune with the thrum of the engine and whir of the fans, in an effort to ground herself and release pent-up energy gathered over the voyage.
Ordyyn knows the crew's had just about enough of her scampering about the corridors and mercilessly questioning anyone within earshot in broken Federation Standard about anything and everything she found interesting.
It's been a long voyage for such an excitable creature, and she's just finished counting the number of rivets holding the ductwork together--128 rusty, 41 shiny, 31 partially oxidized, 200 altogether--when the ship begins its descent into the city.
Watching wide-eyed as the towers and spires emerge from the mists, she only half pays attention to the bulletin, more interested in the fantastic new skyline than the banalities of briefing.
As soon as the transport lands, Onal is on her feet, eager to get out and stretch her legs--all six of them.

Following close behind Helix, she cranes her neck to see around the bulky Space Pirate, taking in as much of the city and the people as she can.
"Space Pirates and I are. Here too is the capture of Guilliman."

Her awkwardly worded response is even more jumbled than usual, as she's distracted by the sparkling towers of metal and the people milling about, but it's safe to assume she's here for the same reason Helix is.
Her attentive eyes and good sense of smell pick up on something suspicious in the background, but she decides it's probably best to tell her teammates after all the formalities are exchanged.

While in the transport, Catherine was watching some sort of Morphling sport. It was like if American football and basketball was mixed together and everyone had non-lethal weapons. She was sometimes yelling at the screen either in Morphling or GF standard. She was too busy watching the game to find many faults in the trip. When she was briefed, she saluted the General. Afterwards, she was thinking how she could NOT look like a GF marine. Her armor was modified, but still bore GF insignias and looked like GF PED marine armor if some Chozo tech was thrown into the mix. When the ship docked, she grouped up with the other hunters. She glared at the Space Pirate. Not only was his kind an enemy to the Federation, but he was corrupted by Phazon. "I'm with them." she says. "though I wish I wasn't with him" She adds while whispering

Chorvak's constant wakefulness was something of a problem on the ship, though he tried to stay out of everyone's way. He mostly preoccupied himself by helping the ship technicians with basic maintenance and operation, though he tinkered with his suit as often as not. The general's briefing didn't help his growing worry, however, as the thought of possibly fighting GF troops who'd gone rogue perturbed him. I don't like where this mission is headed. Maybe I shouldn't have come...

His first step on Nostros 7 reminded him how thankful he'd be for his suit's acclimatization protocols before long. Hearing the rest introduce themselves brought him back to the moment and he walked up behind Catherine and calmly stated "Same."
[roll0] Perception
Chorvak scrunches his nose behind his mask at the smell, though his face isn't visible at the moment, and he points behind the man towards the scorch marks and states "You seem to be having troubles around here; that or you think the smell of charred corpse is inviting."

"Ah Yes, Terribly sorry about that. We had a minor altercation with a bunch of those psycho's that have been flooding the city recently and one of them decided the best way to bring 'freedom' to the city was to try and blow himself up to stop 'invaders'. Bloody idiots." The man stated, his fingers beginning to dance on the screen before him.

"Guillman... you mean the GF officer that visited a few weeks back? As far as I can tell you" he raised he tablet, to indicate his sources "he was last seen at the GF embassy before the attack. Not my business to ask what you want with him, but do try to keep it clean. There's enough trouble around here without you adding to it" The last line was directed towards Helix, the man meeting the pirate's gaze unflinchingly, before signaling for the men behind him to lower their weapons.

"Head over to the west exit. get your weapons checked in, and then feel free to leave. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a group of anarchistic morons to go talk to" The man in the suit waved vaguely towards an exist to the west, the door covered by some large scale scanner, before beginning to walk away.

Helix isn't as affected by this automatic assumption of guilt on the part of the GF Officer. So long as they don't get in his way they can think what they want. The mutated Space Pirate's footsteps thunder across the ground as he makes his way to the mentioned exit.

"Well, good luck with dealing with them." Catherine heads over to the west exit.

Chorvak chortles as the man walks away, stating "Well he's a big ball of sunshine, isn't he?"

The power-suited Elnod walks alongside the pirate, making it fairly obvious that Helix had friends. Or at least acquaintances.

"He is just preoccupied by the traitors. That's all."

Who you trust when enemies come from within? The massive Space Pirate chimes in. The Officer's fear is completely understandable, even he's not sure who are the bad guys and who aren't, assuming alliance with the Federation is metric by which one is "good." He isn't even going to rule out the possibility that this is all one major misunderstanding and Guiliman is actually trying to genuinely help the situation and still retains loyalty to the Federation.

"Trust is something that's earned. You can only give it to people who prove they deserve it and even that's a chance." Chorvak pauses momentarily before continuing. "Eh, what am I going on about? Let's get movin' shall we? I'd like to nab this guy before we're forced to rent a living space."
