My wizard's HP is currently 22, and I noticed that I have more HP than one of my rogue, I was just wondering if this is common, or am I a rarity. Also, for what may augment my HP, I have +1 con, a +1 HP for Dragontouched, and a +2 belt of Con.

and is the +1 con including the belt?

edit: wait... 22? 4d4 is a max of 16, +1 con gives +4 hp at 4 hd. even with first HD auto max, you are rolling well to get 22 hp (pre buffs) as a 4th lvl wizard.

Rogues only have d6's for HD, so that's just +1 HP over a wizard per HD, plus an extra HP if you max out the first HD. As for average HP, you should have 4 HP off the first HD, then about 7.5 from the other three, for a total of 11.5. Then you get 8 more from constitution, and +1 for dragontouched, so you average out at 20.5. Thus, you're a little above average, but not by all that much.

Eh. You have about average HP for your wizard at level 4. Your rogue probably got shafted on the rolls or something. As they should have about an average of:

+2 from Con per level, for 8 total. 6 on first level. 3, 4, 3, for the additional levels, for only 24 HP.

A more "normal" Wizard without your specials (Probably would have an Headband of Intellect over a Belt of Con, no Dragontouched), would be closer to 8 from Con, 4 on first level, 2, 3, 2, for your other levels. Total of 19 HP.

So you're a bit tougher than an "Average" wizard. But not as tough as someone who's more optimized who probably has the +2 Con, plus Faerie Mysteries Initiate, which would have 8 from Con, 20 from FMI, 4 from first level, 2, 3, 2 for additional levels, for a total of 39 HP.

On the other hand, a full 30% of wizards with 10 Constitution will have between 7 and 10 hit points at your level. So, you know, it could be much much worse!

No, I'm pretty sure the wizards dumb enough to do that have no hit points, because they were butchered by a stray arrow three levels ago :smallwink:

Average would put the wizard at 20 and the rogue at 25 at 4th level, assuming 14 Con which is about the lowest I'd go on either in a normal game. Throwing on Dragontouched, I'd consider average to be 21, so you're not really off. The rogue is definitely under.

Average of 4d4+12 = 4+2+3+2+12 = 23 HP. You're 1 HP short of average.

Your PF sorcerer (d6, but Con 8) has survived until 7 when he rebuilt him. Bluff rolls onto "I didn't know where these magics are coming from" fooled our group until 3rd level.

The +1 HP from dragontouched actually isn't a +1 to con mod, so the +12 should rightly be a +9. Thus, 2.5 HP above average.

A proper wizard doesn't care whether he has 1 or 100 hit points, because he never gets hit. :smallwink:

So you're a bit tougher than an "Average" wizard. But not as tough as someone who's more optimized who probably has the +2 Con, plus Faerie Mysteries Initiate, which would have 8 from Con, 20 from FMI, 4 from first level, 2, 3, 2 for additional levels, for a total of 39 HP.
FMI replaces constitution with intelligence, you don't get both. To truly become a mage tank, take FMI, an int boosting race, int gear, and then become undead for a d12 hit die while still mainting your massive health bonus from FMI.

A necropolitian gray elf wizard with FMI has 51.5 hp on average at level 4.
