Was looking for an Alchemist secondary class for my 'old man of the forest (but not a druid) type wizard' and found this.

Sweet eternal life, but 10 rounds and half spellcasting progression?
Is there something better to get me knee-deep in potions?
...Also, what book is this class from?
The Master Alchemist from Magic of Faerun gets to make potions of 9th level spells. Also, that class is homebrew and not found in any book.

Not only that, it's poorly designed homebrew from the looks of it. It's too front loaded for a dip, and even admits it. One off for increased will save, +2 to a stat of choice, and standard spell caster progression. Ug. Why? There's literally no reason I can see for a caster not to take a one off dip in it other than requiring Brew Potion as a feat. Yeah, I'll trade a feat slot for a free stacking untyped stat boost + 2, or plus 4 if I entered as a Sorcerer to my primary casting stat.
Just poor design. Unless you got a very high power game going I can't imagine a DM not looking at you cross eyed for trying to bring that in.
