Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 211 through 220.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on November 18th, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :belkar: 202 - Scanning... (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0202.html) calmly explained that the long standing traditions of its ancient homeland pretty much demanded that it win the week. And who are we to ignore such tradtion? Who will come up with the prize this week? Find out by following in this thread. :smallwink:

It's time to prove that these prizes are worth more than just a handful of dirt in by voting......

Woha, this bunch's got some very good material. I'm not entirely sure among 211, 216 and 219.

As much as I love the old geezer in 219, I'm going to have to jump on the 216: Perfect Combo bandwagon.

Personally I enjoyed the set up and execution of 212 the most.

Miko is actually pretty cool and sympathetic if you go through the strips slowly enough instead of binge-reading the archives.

I'm in for 212 - Dirt Farm. Nothing bad to say about a simple man with simple tastes.

I'll go with 212 this time around.

I can't decide...I'll go with the currently-underrepresented 218

Several that would have won last time, but we only get 1 of these 10. So I will go with 216.

Some pretty good strips here again. 211 is fun. 212 has the great smite evil/bump uglies joke, 214 is a great Miko moment, and a perfect set-up for 215. 215 itself is good, but Roy's attitude to Miko in the last panel always struck a bad chord with me, especially when compared with his more sympathetic attitude a few strips later in 219. 216 is good, but probably more fun for people with better 3.5 rules-fu than me. 217 is relatively weak, but that's probably because most of the Elan Clowns Around stuff isn't really my thing. The dirt farmer is awesome, and owns strip 218.

But for me it is a straight fight between 220 and 213; the stand off between between Miko and Belkar is great, and the throwaway "stenographer" line kills me. 220 is one of my favourite V moments; a bill addressed to 'that paladin', and the return of a great running gag too. I'll pick 213.

I think I'm going with 213

Wow, those are some real classics! The Half-Ogre with his cheesy spiked-chain combo, Miko pissing everyone off, Belkar revealing he is completely unsuited for the job Roy hired him to do... but the one that really makes me laugh is 218, with the elderly Grognard of a Dirt Farmer.

213, Belkar's incompetence shines through

Like others, I think this is an exceptionally strong batch. But I'm going to go slightly against the grain and go for the somewhat neglected 218. Maybe it's the fact that I played 1e and 2e back in the day. Maybe it's because I just love the dynamic of the Dirt Farmers. Or maybe it's because the whole thing is comedy gold from start to finish. Yeah, I think I'll go with that reason. :smallwink:

And with that.....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:roy: 216 Perfect Combo (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0216.html) is the winner this week! It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
