I know a character is only allowed one swift action per round, but is there any limit to how many immediate actions a character may take in a round?

You may only take one immediate or swift action per round, and an immediate action taken when it is not your turn counts as the one for your next turn.

Here's the srd:

Immediate Actions

Much like a swift action (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/actionsInCombat.htm#swiftActions), an immediate action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort and energy than a free action (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/actionsInCombat.htm#freeActions). However, unlike a swift action, an immediate action can be performed at any time — even if it's not your turn. Casting feather fall (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/featherFall.htm) is an immediate action, since the spell can be cast at any time.
Using an immediate action on your turn is the same as using a swift action, and counts as your swift action for that turn. You cannot use another immediate action or a swift action until after your next turn if you have used an immediate action when it is not currently your turn (effectively, using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn). You also cannot use an immediate action if you are flat-footed (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#flatFooted).

And can you perform an immediate/swift action in the same round that you perform a full-round action? And what about in the same round you cast a spell with 1-round casting time?

Well, I guess that explains why I don't see all casters running around with the dampen spell feats *sigh*

Yes.

I don't believe the rules address it, but I would have to rule that taking an immediate or swift action while performing a different action that takes more than one full-round action would interrupt that action. If that action is casting a spell, it should interrupt and waste the spell. However, something like picking a lock or taking 20 on a search check has no reason to suffer if you take a half-second to make a strange gesture with your free hand.
