improved familiar as a divine caster?

There are numerous ways to get a familiar as a divine caster. My question is how to use the improved familiar feat, which for some reason has *arcane* level requirements for the various options.

Also, it lists homunculous as an option, would this be limited to just the specific creature, or any construct of the homunculous category (i.e. the iron defender)

Those just change the individual spells. It does not change your caster type, nor does change the arcane requirement.
