View Full Version : All Elder Evils? [3.5e]

I'm looking for a list of all 3.5e Elder Evils, Don't matter if they're homebrew or not. And I'm not talking about your grandma's Lovecraftian Horrors (like the ones presented in Lords of Madness, for example). I'm talking about the fully fleshed out, horrifying ones, like the ones detailled in the Elder Evils book itself.

Atropus, the World Born Dead (an undead godling in the form of a small moon)
Father Llymic (an alien monster imprisoned in ice)
The Hulks of Zoretha (five gargantuan statues)
The Leviathan (a monster of the deep composed of leftover chaotic energies from creation)
Pandorym (an evil force from the places between the planes)
Ragnorra, Mother of Monsters (a hideous malformed monstrosity)
Sertrous (a vast demonic snake)
The Worm that Walks (a 30’ tall giant composed of worms and maggots)
Zargon the Returner (a viscous beast crowned with a solitary horn)

Shothragot (http://web.archive.org/web/20081004185656/http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080318a)(A self-aware fragment of Tharizdun) (Dragon #362)

Assatur (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75718) (a sentient memetic virus) (by The Demented One)
Negative Zero (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287271) (a knowledge-hating wraith of necrocarnum) (by Kayzan)
Ledus (Akull) the Ice Queen (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212543) (an "angel" of mercy who wants to freeze the world) (by Dumbledore lives)
The (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5453448#post5453448)Silver (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5455011&postcount=520)Hell (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5455218&postcount=521)star (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5455583&postcount=522) (a gigantic sentient space construct) (by afroakuma)

Worm that walks is just an epic level monster out of the ELH.

And Atropus sounds suspiciously like Atropal, also out of the ELH.

Then again, the thing in the ELH that gives gods nightmares is the good old fashioned CR 57 Hecatronies. 100 attacks per round...

No, I'm talking about the ones that have the whole 9 yards - a mini-campaign, signs, etc...

Not just the enormously powerful monsters.

As far as I know those are the only official ones. Elder Evils are basically defined by having a Sign and Elder Evil traits (maximized health and some immunities.)

Elder Evils was a different book entirely that came near the end of the 3.5 run of products. Those being are different unique beings out of that book. Worm that Walks is supposed to be Kyuss iirc.

Edit: swordsaged

Kuulvheysoon: don't forget about Zargon! The original big bad from 1E's Mystara refluffed for 3.5! That's in Elder Evils too right?

I'm also on the look-out for completed Elder Evils that the minds at the Playground here have completed, or from BG (as seen by me nabbing The Demented One's Assatur).

How "completed" are we talking? Both Dumbledore Lives's Ledus (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212543) and Kazyan's Negative Zero (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287271) are pretty detailed.

Sounds like a good competition, similar to the IC, have it so you pick a theme (like mechanical) and then people brew up Elder Evils. Just saying.

Also Exemplars of Evil are easily converted to Elder Evils by making them aspects and adding the traits.

Shothragot is only Ghaunadaurs creation in Faerun. He's Tharizduns minion elsewhere (Tharizdun and Ghaunadaur are separate beings but very clearly connected in multiple ways though).

And here's another homebrewed Elder Evil (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287271).

EDIT: Darn, ninja'd.

most gods are almost immune to its attacks right? as they have stupid damage reduction (40+) and Hecatronies do like 30 damage per hit.... am i missing something?

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Keep them coming!

I think the answer to the first would end up populating the requirements for the 2nd. From what it looks like to me there needs to be:

Background: 250 -500 words scaled by increasing knowledge DCs.

Goals: 100 - 250 words again scaled by increasing knowledge DCs.

Timeline: The signs separated by Faint, Moderate, Strong, and Overwhelming (EE p 7). 100-200 words each.

Description: A stated version of a cr 15+ being, and 2-3 main minions that would serve it. The elder evil (or aspect of it) should have the traits listed in the sidebar on EE p. 6.

Encounter Information: 2 -3 adventures, suggest Writing Your First Adventure (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ab/20060728a) as a guide, which features the monsters in the description section.

Is that right? Did I miss anything?

Not quite an elder evil but this homebrew might be relevant Elder Evil Epigone (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287370)

Also there are some creatures which are CALLED elder evils in Champions of Ruin but don't have any signs or the like. You could give a couple of them signs and they would work pretty well though. Dendar is one of my favorites there, giant nightmare snake which is going to swallow the world in nightmares.

The Silver Hellstar (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5453448#post5453448).

Meet the only Elder Evil you're ever going to need to use or run.

...Also it's good-aligned.

IotSV could probably defeat it with Imprisonment (i.e. Teleport in under the affects of a Personal Warding, proceed to cast Imprisonment repeatedly.)
DC 10 + 9 + 11 (ability mod) + 2 (sf/gsf) is 32, and assuming anyone knows what this thing is, that's another -4 to the save, so effective DC of 36 (~40% chance of success). Not that bad considering any level 17+ character could do the same (or better).

Given that there's only one Hellstar, and what...a technically infinite number of initiates, it's inevitable this will work. :)

Are the other Elder Evils similarly vulnerable?

Its presence negates all conjuration magic so no teleport. Also, it's an artificer, when geared it will have higher saves. Oh and touch AC 35 and SR 40.

Well I started it, Villain Victorious (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314883), hope it gets off the ground. Advice on how its ran would be appreciated.
