Hi guys...

So my elven wizard, who is level 21, has an open feat slot. I woudl very much like to become better at dispelling. Is this possible at my current set up?

I dont want any cheese on this guy, but I'm all ears anyways.

Thanks as always!

Reaving dispel (9th level spell)

arcane mastery will let you take 10

dispelling chord gives +2 5/day

anything that maximizes caster level check

Really though, just use disjunction, it's better in every way

The Planar Touchstone feat can get you a +4 on dispel checks (pick Catalogues of Enlightenment - Inquisition Domain).

Sort of true, it is a lot more powerful, but if you are hoping to loot magical items from an enemy you can't hit them with a disjunction.

Thank you so far...

I was intending on looting and my mage does not like to destoy magic like distjoining does.

Also I was thinking about using dispel for counterspellign...

If you allow just a little bi of 3rd party feats, there are two which gives your wisdom and one that gives your charisma modifier as a bonus on checks.

Dispelling chord, planar touchstone (catalogs of enlightenment - inquisition domain) and arcane mastery (which were all previously mentioned) all combine quite greatly. +6 on your dispel check, assuming you're using a CL appropriate spell (a dispel that isn't capped yet) then you can auto-dispel/counter anything of up to 5 caster levels higher than yours. Pretty useful when you combine it with greater arcane sight to identify the spells your enemies have on them, then hit them with a targeted dispel and remove it all without even rolling a dice.

Elven Spell Lore gives you a bonus on Dispel Checks, there's also a Swift action spell in SpC that boosts the next dispel you cast in that round too.

You could also start taking Shadowcaster levels. Combined with the Creeping Darkness variant (switching out Wizard levels for Shadowcaster) and then progressing into Noctumancer, a counter-spelling specialist from the tome of Magic.

The problem you have is that the best way to counter-spell is to take a level of Cleric, which gives you Turn Attempts which you then use to fuel the feat Divine Defiance, which allows you to dispel as an immediate action, and then grabbing the Inquisition Domain for +4 on dispel checks over the CL caps of the spells.

The other alternative, considering you are level 21, which means you're in epic, is to go for Epic Counterspell, which requires a bunch of mediocre feats but then gives you the ability to counter-spell at any time for no cost.
