A bonded object can be used once per day to cast any one spell that the wizard has in his spellbook and is capable of casting, even if the spell is not prepared. This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizard, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the wizard’s level. This spell cannot be modified by metamagic feats or other abilities. -- Core 78

Would using the bonded object be considered a Spell Trigger or Spell Completion item? I ask because in a grapple you can use a Spell Trigger item when grappled but not a Spell Completion item. (Core rules pg 496).

That's an excellent question for the Pathfinder Q&A thread! Personally as a DM, I've always treated it exactly like a normal spell -- as if the player had actually memorized it and was casting it just like normal. So, in the case of grappling, they'd have to make a concentration check. But that is RAI, not RAW.

This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizardIt isn't a spell trigger or a spell completion item, but an item that allows you to cast an extra spell of your choose. Think of it as an item that grant you "Power as a sorcerer, once in a day". Or like a Pearl of Power: It is a spell trigger, or a spell completion? The answer is "It isn't none of those things".

So you could cast while grappled, but only if you make a Concentration Check, exactly as if you prepared the spell that morning, or if you were a sorcerer

Neither, it allows you to cast a spell as any other spell. It does not reproduce that spell on its own.
