The RAW on this is confusing me.

In armors section it refers to the 2x cost for being non humanoid of what is listed.

It is a medium creature, and with mithril, it says to add +1000 gp.

Which includes the masterwork cost.

So is a mithril shirt for a fleshraker, 1200? 100 x 2? :smallconfused: Seems like a steal.

2200 GP I guess.

I believe it would actually be 1,200 GP. I say this because the cost of making it mithril doesn't double when making it for a large sized creature. Therefore, it shouldn't cost extra for non-humanoid creatures either.

If lacking a specific rule, presume the general rule takes place. So, 1200 seems about right.

Strictly by RAW, it's not clear whether multiplication or addition comes first. But by common sense it's fairly clear that barding for unusual creatures is distinguished from normal armor chiefly by the additional quantity of material (and labor to shape it) needed to cover the surfaces, and therefore that making it from a special material will consume more of that special material, driving the cost up.

When you drop down an armor category and use double the material for your armor, then just accept that 4.400 GP is the price for a large mithril chain shirt.
