So, in my rare spare time this month, since I've been a bit too busy to focus on anything bigger or more detailed, I've been tinkering with a build I have in my head for a while. It's a heavily defensive "NOPE!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvdf5n-zI14) build, focused on stealth and evasion to just flat-out negate most attacks.

Anyhow, I'm working on a list of things that I need to be able to effectively defend from, so I can work on my immunity/evasion list. I also thought that this would in general be a good thing to have even beyond this particular build, a checklist I can measure my characters up to in the future.

Here is what I have so far. I'm sure I'm missing a whole lot. I want as complete a list as possible, so I can look at all the various ways my character can be completely screwed over.

Ability damage
-- Direct ability damage/drain (crippling strike, touch of most incorporeal undead, etc.)
-- Ability penalties (including Ray of Enfeeblement, entangled, fatigued, etc.)
AoEs (blasts, breath weapons, etc.)
-- Reflex half
-- Fort/Will half
-- No save (Kelgore's Grave Mist, etc.)
Death effects
Divinations
-- Contact Other Plane/Commune
-- Scry & Die (heavily buffed attacks via teleportation when I least expect it)
Equipment destruction
-- Sunder
-- Rust monster/warp wood/etc.
-- Disjunction
Hidden enemies
-- Characters with obscene Hide/Move Silently
-- Invisibility (including Superior Invsibility)
Melee attacks
-- High damage charge builds
Mind-affecting spells/abilities
Movement lock-down
-- Solid Fog/Wall of Thorns style spells
-- Things that entangle (Entangle spell, Entangling Ectoplasm, etc.)
-- Grapple effects (large monsters or Black Tentacles)
-- Thicket of Blades or Knight AoO lockdown
-- Forcecage
Negative levels
Passive debuffs (dark companion, blackguard or PoT aura, Focalor, etc.)
Precision damage
-- Sneak attack/sudden strike
-- Skirmish
Ranged attacks
-- Arrows/small missile fire
-- Energy attacks (eldritch blast, etc. - see also "Rays")
-- Large ranged attacks (boulders, siege engines, etc.)
Rays
Save-or-suck (miscellaneous, not covered in other categories)
-- Fortitude
-- Reflex
-- Will
Superior Senses
-- Scent, Tremorsense, Blindsense, Blindsight
-- Mindsight
-- Lifesight
-- Arcane sight (any ability to see magical auras)
-- Deathsense
Surprise
Touch attacks
Vision impairment
-- Blindness
-- Lighting (mundane darkness/low light)
-- Magical darkness
-- Fog effects (obscuring mist & co.)
"Word" spells (Blasphemy/Holy Word/Dictum/Word of Chaos)

So what say you, Playground? Can you help me flesh out this list of things that can kill, maim or otherwise screw me over?

How's about Equipment Destruction? I'm thinking Rust Monsters, Dust Wraiths, etc...

Environmental effects?

Adding equipment destruction now. Environmental effects seem like they'd be covered in other categories? Might need one for wind, though, as that's something pretty specific.

True, but I'm thinking more along the lines of the specific threats presented in the "It's XXX Outside" series, such as dehydration. Wind is a good one, though.

...Actually, maybe include that with Planar Effects (like the Positive Energy Plane)?

You are missing Transmutations, time manipulation, and planar effects off the top of my head.

Then there are the death effects that aren't actually death effects.

Oh yeah, there are also the Salient Divine Abilities and Wish.

Would a psionic class with persisted Timeless Body be unkillable? That's a question that's been on my mind for some time. The RAW in this case tends to allow pretty serious interpretations. It wouldn't make you immune vs scrying I guess?!

Off the type of my head,
BFRs like Maze and Time Hop
No save, action denial (Hydra Slaying Strike, Douse the flames, etc)
Magic buff removal (AMF, suppressing field, dispels)
Touchsight to special senses
