Would a duskblade, benefit, in creating a intelligent sword for themselves?

Depends on what it does. Most martial characters benefit from an intelligent weapon, especially if it has SLAs.

If he were to actually make it, or whatever, it might not be worthwhile. The Duskblade in my game has Finslayer, the intelligent sword from A Night Below, and has had a rocking time with it.

Item familiars and intelligent items are two different things, although one subsumes the other to some extent.

And yes, of course they would benefit. Anyone can benefit from bonus XP, if nothing else.

As TuggyNE says, Extra XP are always useful, and the extra spell-slot, skill-points. But the best part are that you don't need to ever buy a new sword, and you can improve the one you have for only the creation cost, and special abilities when you reach 10th-level.
It's a LOT better then item the Item creation feat for the given Item. (Not that that say much.)
