So I've recently started doodling some avatar-ish things in the OoTS style, and noticed something. Most of the lines loose their shape when I try and save them as anything other than an .svg, and my art doesn't scale to avatar size well. As a near-complete newie to Inkscape, is there any advice you experienced lot have?

Are you saving the image or exporting it?

Never save as anything other then an svg, always use the camera method of getting your png.
Layer above everything, put 120x120 or so square atop the avatar, make the square transparent, export everything within the shape.

Erm, forgive my ignorance, but what, pray tell, is the photo method? Or is it what you said in the post?

Edit: Okay, after doing what you said, this is what it turned out like. Which is better, so I'll just go work on the sizing issue.

It's that blurb she posted. Trazoi's guide explains it (http://www.trazoi.net/tutorials/inkscape/oots/export.html) with pictures.
