So, a little while ago the X-Wing Minis thread reminded me of how much I like the space combat in STO. So I picked it up again, took the slow path to level 50 and even picked up the LTS now that it's on sale.

Anyone else playing STO?

I was playing for a while, and enjoyed the featured episodes. Mostly though I played in the unrestricted PVP playground of Ker'rat. But with only one area like that, I got a little bored, and eventually stopped playing.

There's only so many Federation ships that you can insta-pop with a kinetic B'rel retrofit before you've made your point. :smallwink:

Playing STO now - romulan, lvl 50 level-capped dilithium farmer.

My character is a fed tactical flying a cruiser (odyssey class, now I've hit 50). At the moment I'm working on Omega rep and doing the story missions when I'm sick of that (I skipped the story missions when levelling because I was never in a hurry to trade in my ship). I think I'll roll a romulan sci soon, try out playing with some more nimble ships.

I've got a level 50 Fed tac, currently flying a Steamrunner. I'm liking the new Dyson content so far.

I started playing a few weeks before the Sphere came out. Got a level 50 Federation Engineer. Still running in an Assault Cruiser, but saving up for the Fleet Assault Cruiser. Love the look of the Sovereign class ships.

At tier 3 Omega and Romulan rep. Trying to save up Dilithium but I'm not sure what to purchase with it. I mainly PvE so Im debating buying the Romulan Plasma beam banks. They seem pretty damn good, but at 23-25k dilithium per bank its going to get expensive fast. Im currently using 6 antiproton banks (from the Featured Episode) along with the 360 antiproton beam and the borg KCB. Have the warp core from the featured episode too which gives a nice 10% boost to antiproton damage. Changing all that for romulan plasma will be very expensive though (plus needing the romulan consoles).

Debating leveling a couple of KDF characters just to run the Marauding doff missions. Can use it to increase how quickly I obtain dilithium.

I was in closed beta, and played for about a year after launch. I cancelled my sub a few months after it went free to play. Just did not want to spend the money.

I have six characters of various ranks. My main character is topped out.

Vice Admiral Norin Wolf. Commanding USS Mahan, a sovereign class ship.

Loved using the tactical ships, but the sovereign is traditional star trek capital ships at its best.

I played it when it first came out. Co-op with my brother was fun (Science and Tactical) but I got bored when he quit playing.

WOW at how buggy the character creator is for Romulans. Pieces with the wrong pallette, pieces where the pallette is just missing, random colour linkage, pieces that are missing colour swatches, left and right versions of the same piece with different settings, saved costumes that won't load... just wow.

Have there been any improvements to PVP? Is it still only Ker'rat for open PVP, then the arena trash?

PvP has had no improvements. The game's PvP subforum hates the power creep of late, and there's even less direct dev attention than there is to KDF exclusives (and that's saying something).

Wow, that's unfortunate. Thanks for the response.

I just started playing a couple of weeks ago. I have a Vulcan science officer, lieutenant commander, in a Nova class Federation vessel.

It's been fun so far. I've only been in one PvP match so far, because the queues are always empty, at least when I'm online. I got my ass handed to me pretty badly, too.

Sphere of Influence was awesome. I loved all the references, and getting to pal around with Worf.

Mostly, though, it's the little touches I love. I like that I can hang little ship models in my ready room, like Picard did. I like that I can replicate Feline Supplement 47. I like the emotes, including Prosper, Face-Palm, Double and Face-Palm, and my personal favorite, Tug (which lets you perform the 'Picard Maneuver, by straightening your tunic). I like performing a Kirk roll in battle.

I've actually started watching the shows again, to help catch me up on all of the many, many references in the game, as I haven't watched any Star Trek in years. I'm starting with TOS, and will move on from there.

I just picked up my Fleet Excelsior yesterday. Saving for fleet modules sucks. But damn that's a nice ship. 4 Tac consoles, a lt-cmdr tactical and a ton of engineering spots makes it a perfect beam ship with Aux2Bat.

For reference, at least before today's patch, the Foundary missions weren't capping loot. Not sure if that was fixed in todays patch, but you could constantly run "Happy Farmer" in the foundary yesterday and the day before and the loot would not stop dropping. 10 min for ~600k in vendor trash is pretty good if you need quick money.

Been playing since Open Beta, good stuff.

Main is FED Engineer flying Adapted Battle Cruiser. Is awesome.

I really like the Excelsior but I'm wondering what to try next. As an Aux2Bat build it seems almost ideal. Maybe once my fleet reaches Shipyward 5 I can pickup the Fleet Assault Cruiser retrofit.

I tried playing an Escort and I really can't get the hang of the cannons. I'm so much less efficient than broadsiding with beams.
