I write reviews (pro bono) for a website called Winterwind (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/). The series is called Gamer on a Budget and each game reviewed has to cost less than ten dollars.

Here's a list of what I've reviewed thusfar.

Organ Trail (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/organ_trail/)
Dear Esther (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/dear_esther/)
Binding of Isaac (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/the_binding_of_isaac/)
The Misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/the_misadventures_of_pb_winterbottom/)
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/ace_patrol/)
To the Moon (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/to_the_moon/)
Zombie Shooter 2 (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/zombie_shooter_2/)
Papers, Please (http://www.winterwind-productions.com/columns/papers_please/)

I've got two questions:

1.) What do you guys think? Are the reviews okay? Do they read well, or seem at all accurate in their assessment? We're the audience for something like this, after all. I'm honestly not sure how many people read them, but I love writing them and hey, every writer wants to be read.

2.) What suggestions of budget games do you have for me? What should I review? They have to be under ten bucks and fairly recent to meet my criteria. My next game to review is Surgeon Simulator 2013 and after that, one called McPixel. I'm looking to make a long list for review.

Your reviews are decently written...but there's not much actually THERE. They're so short that I didn't feel like I got anything particularly helpful from them: in most cases they felt like slightly expanded box blurbs. I REQUIRE MORE REVIEW! :smalltongue:

In all seriousness: don't be afraid of writing a bit more. Give us gameplay samples, your opinions on specific things, spoilers of things you loved (marked as such in advance, of course!) and so forth. You need to engage the reader more: why should we read YOUR reviews over any others? What insights/humor/etc do you add and/or do better than anyone else?

As for games: Faster Than Light, mobile/browser games, Thirty Flights of Loving, Slender, most things from Steam Greenlight...

That is FANTASTIC feedback. Thank you. And FTL is one of my favorites I don't even know why I didn't think to review it!

Let me talk to the publisher. He wanted shortish reviews, but I'll tell him what you wrote!
