Q about the longevity of OOC threads

Is that one year after creation or one year of inactivity?

I did a quick scan and found some active threads (as someone posted there this month) started much earlier than a year before (the two oldest I found in <5min where from 2007 and 2010 + a bunch from 2012), so it is certainly not one year after creation :smallwink: (and in my opinion that would be a rather strange choice to limit a thread by creation time - it should be much more relevant whether people use that thread or not)

I don't think threads do expire anymore. The archive has threads still available that have been inactive since 2009. Example (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/archive/index.php?t-60703.html).

The thread you linked has posts in it from four days ago. :smalltongue: I assure you, they do expire. Had it happen to a recruitment thread that I'd neglected to save a backup of a couple months ago.

While threads in the regular recruitment forum do expire, I'm not sure about OOC threads. I have one example of a thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185462&page=39) where there have been no posts since August 6 of 2012 that still isn't deleted.

It's periodic, I believe, allowing for things which are over a year old to stick around until it bothers checking again.
