Hello! I'm Nova Wurmson, and I'm writing a few undead-themed disciplines for a future Dreamscarred Press Path of War product. Adreas has given the go ahead to move into playtesting, so I'm here to ask your help in making these the best that they can be.

The playtest document can be found here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/19L9z9MHrK7npDqD0IWrkb0HwV_LgCljr0LUFebmO1z8/edit?usp=sharing)!

These four disciplines are meant to embody both the fighting styles of living creatures trying to emulate the undead as well as the fighting styles of undead themselves. The four disciplines and their themes are as follows:

Eternal Guardian - A loyal undead that defends allies with unshakeable oaths and sinister darkness.

Insidious Desire - A sinister undead that torments opponents with bleed effects and hemomancy before going in for the kill.

Hungering Mind - An evolving undead that spreads plague and starvation.

Vengeful Revenant - An unrelenting undead that will not be put to rest.

At this point, I'm looking for feedback in every area, including balance, themes, clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. What discipline feels the least cohesive to you? What parts of each discipline would you like to see refined, and which parts of each would you like to see discarded? What are some maneuvers that feel "out of place" either by power, concept, or something else entirely?

FAQ:

What's the Path of War?
The original announcement (http://dreamscarredpress.com/dragonfly/ForumsPro/viewtopic/p=35160.html) sums it up best: It's a Pathfinder reintroduction and expansion of the martial initiator system first released in the Tome of Battle.

Where can I read more about the actual systems?
This thread (http://dreamscarredpress.com/dragonfly/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=3066.html) has links to each class, including archetypes, organizations, and feats.

That's...kinda wierd for a theme, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

Just to explain a little: The disciplines were originally conceived as material for the Seventh Path supplement - a psionics+undead combination that was a stretch goal for the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter (the alpha for the psion discipline is here (http://dreamscarredpress.com/dragonfly/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=3127.html)).

The amount of actually undead abilities varies with the discipline; I'd probably sort them Insidious Desire<Eternal Guardian<Hungering Mind<Vengeful Revenant going from least to most undead themed. Any Rogue-ish character could make good use of Insidious Desire, while Vengeful Revenant and Hungering Mind have multiple abilities that either resurrect or otherwise involve corpses.

Thanks for taking a look at them!

Did you guys meet the stretch goal?

Yup! It was the $40,000 stretch goal (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/197021008/ultimate-psionics-hardcover).

only 479 backers raised $56,870? :smalleek: Amazing! Do some of the disciplines require an undead race to use?

Yup! There were quite a few $200+ dollar backers (and two $1,000 each backers).

Do some of the disciplines require an undead race to use?

Nope! I'm intentionally trying to make these disciplines useful for both the living and the dead. To tell the truth, Vengeful Revenant is slightly less useful to undead because some of its abilities grant undead defenses and immunities. Most players with obviously be playing living creatures, but these disciplines can hopefully make your character feel more like an undead - or a combat-focused necromancer.
