View Full Version : Bugsby was mentally disturbed...

Every single one of the Bugsby's (Or Bixby's) Hand spells we've seen V cast has had three fingers and a thumb. All the characters we've seen have had the same three-fingered hand, one of which is presumably the thumb.

So what was the wizard who created those spells on when they made the hands so vastly unlike their own?

You know how Inigo Montoya was hunting for the six-fingered man who murdered his father? Bugsby is his identical twin brother, as depicted in the Stickiverse.

He wasn't mentally disturbed, he was a freak. You see, he was the only person with a nose in OOTSverse.

No, I don't buy it... we'd be seeing a lot more 'Bugsby's Expelling Nostril' (A gust of wind blows enemies in a cone in front of you away), or 'Bugsby's Booger Bomb' (a massive snot ball traps everything in a 10' radius) spells.

I am houseruling these spells in my next DnD game.

He was just a big fan of Mickey Mouse.

Also: It is not certain that the characters even have thumbs. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0778.html)

I have had a character with Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0624.html) as a cantrip.

I never noticed before that Bugsby's Flicking Finger manifests a fourth finger (not including the thumb) on the hand.

Come now, be fair. An extra digit is really not that weird when you consider other things that wizards have made. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0322.html)

Considering that Elan isn't even sure if they have thumbs, I think the number of fingers is pretty non-indicative of problems.

If you think Bugsby (aka Bixby, the spelling of his name varies in some spellbooks) was bad, you should have met his adventuring companions in the Circus of Eight! Their leader Mordy Cohen was this hot shot chess-master, who was noted for spells involving swords, hounds and mansions. Then there was Ten Sarr, who made a fortune in the moving industry, O.T. Luke, who had a thing for circles and spheres, and Ray-Ree, who was the Evil member of their group. The group also had a Cleric, Rugsby (sometimes called Ruxpin) and a Male Elf. And then there was the Fighter, Lord Rob E. Liar, who was this Chaotic Neutral troublemaker. You know how adventuring parties sometimes have a member who touches things that have signs saying "Don't touch this thing"? That was Lord Rob E. Liar. :smallcool:

Also, his head wasn't a third of his height; he had finger-nails and a permanent shadow whenever he was in light, and his arms could reach high above his head and down to his knees. His eyes also had this weird white part and black circles.

And that's not mentioning his two-hundred eye-lashes. He had lashes coming out of his eyes! Terrible, terrible lashes! You whip people with lashes!

The nails from his fingers and toes, how do you even grow such hardware on your body.

That was V failing a Knowledge(nature) check. Owls are normally very capable predators with very good senses, sharp beaks, and talons. Adding their qualities to a bear would indeed make a creature more fearsome.

Either way, mixing and matching birds and mammals is still weirder than adding an extra digit.

Look, the wizard in question was obviously inspired by the platypus. The progression from a natural duck-beaver hybrid to a magically created owl-bear hybrid is straightforward; nothing weird or strange about it at all. Just be glad he didn't study the creature enough to include the poison spurs somehow

Leorik, I haven't forgotten about post, I'm just getting my brain up to speed.

Well, I haven't mentioned the adventurers who inspired the Circus of Eight: Zig-Zagy, Natasha, Oh So "the Irresistable", Quayle, and the planewalker James "Buffalo Bill" Cody.

The fearsome thing would be an Owlbear with wings that was capable of flight. And an "Ecology of the Owlbear" article in "Dragon Magazine" from back in the '90's had stats for just such a creature for DMs to unleash on unsuspecting PCs!

That is indeed one of the more awesome cantrips I've seen. Does prestidigitation allow that?

There is an established hentai bookstore in Cliffport... He may have just gotten his inspiration from such places.

Evan was one of the more dastardly Wizards ever to threaten the SheldonandLeonard Valley; it's not surprising he devised a spell as notorisous as Evan's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion.

Well, actually, he did. But after the the first user learned what it did, he put it in a bag of holding inside a portable hole within a sphere of annihilation.

I have to say though, anyone who, when crafting what essentially boils down to a set of telekinesis spells, decides to animate said spell with wholly superfluous imagery of giant disembodied body parts, is probably at least a little bit mentally disturbed...

Now I find myself trying to come up with non-hand-using versions of all the Hand spells. Bugsby's Interposing Force...Bugsby's Telekinetic Push...Bugsby's Telekinetic Cage...Bugsby's Striking Force...Bugsby's Crushing Cage.

When you come up with an equivalent for Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit, let me know.

Poor old Bugsby got a little loopy towards the end there. Couldn't even consistently remember his name when developing spells.

Ah, good old Rob E. Liar. One time he made a chess set with teeth that would snap at any passing fingers. So you might say that Rob E. Liar's Game Bit.

Of course he was. He had such tiny hands and the rest of his body was so big. We all know what he did with his hand spells when he was alone.
